Having read previous posts on this subject - I thought to warn others of my recent experience. My wife and I have just returned from a great holiday in Malta, however the timeshare type touts managed to catch me out on Silema Harbour front when waiting for a harbour cruise. I thought that I was street wise but on holiday with my guard down I fell for it, a young lad asked if we would take part in a quick survey about our holiday asking questions as to where we were staying how often we holiday'd, did we like malta etc etc. We must have matched the the right profile so at the end he said we could have to tickets which we should open right away to see if we had won anything. The first was for a bottle of wine for me which I had to present at the airport and when the wife opened hers it said a free holiday and flights - at this point the young lad became excited and said that he only had 2 of these a month and he would take us to claim the holiday. We were driven to the Club Malta offices in Silema whereby we were subjected to over a 90 minute presentation which would have gone on longer if I had allowed it. Despite telling the representative in their offices right from the start that I would not sign or agree to anything there and then and would only stay an hour after telling him three times after an hour was up that he now had to bring this to a conclusion he still kept on and when my patience finally ran out he called over his boss/minder who he had been writing notes to and covering them up with his hand whilst the presentation was in progress based I presume on the answers I gave.
His boss then tried the hard approach with us however he had chosen the wrong person to try and intimidate and he had a choice , we were leaving or he was likely to be going hospital - We left they kept the prize tickets. I know that I should not have been sucked into this scam in the first place and it also left a sour taste for a while so be warned they are still out there with a very plausible approach
hi.....bob.................that story should be a good warning to anyone tempted by these time share touts.
In today's Times Of Malta on-line, seems the slimeshare vermin are being as scummy as normal
Same old sad story.
They drive you mad especially around the Qawra/Bugibba area. You can't walk past the Square without being stopped.
They will be staying in it for 1 month in Feb this year and we will be staying in a separate apartment on the same complex for 1 week in the middle of Feb.
The cost for us to stay in the same accommodation for the 1 week is Gbp£50.00 (me and my husband).
I will let you know how we get on after we return....
