my hubby is disappointed to see how far the resorts we like the look of on the red sea are from the 'sights' of egypt. personally my idea of sights are the coral, the fish, the views of the mountains and watching the sunset! but he would have liked to have seen the pyramids, sphynx, a few tombs etc.
on scouting around i see a lot of tour operators offer a 1 day trip by plane or bus (but i can't imagine how long it must take by bus!)
has anyone done this i.e stayed in sharm/hurghada/nuweiba and gone sight seeing for the day like that?
the other option might have been a 1 week nile cruise and a 1 week in resort but for our 1st red sea holiday i'd prefer to pick out a good hotel and resort.
We have just booked our 4th trip to Egypt, While staying in Hurghada we did the Luxor , Karnak and valley of the kings. It's an early start and a 5hr coach trip but worth it as Karnak is breath taking. You can do it overnight.
While staying in Sharm we did the day trip to Giza, flying to cairo in the morning. First stop was egyptian museum then trip down the nile to have some lunch then back on the coach to go to Giza to the see the pyramids, then flight back to Sharm you can do it by road but its leaving about 2am.
most of the time we spend in the sea and enjoying the weather.
a good option would be the mixed cruise and resort but its too long out the sea for me we keep saying we are going to do it but then we find a good deal for a resort and it gets put on hold.
