Royal Plaza ( Armutalan)
Stayed there twice, Sept 06 for 2 weeks, and May/June 07 for 4 weeks.
Different sites give it 3 or 4 stars, but 3 is probably closer. Rooms are big even the attic rooms have enough space.
This time we were in a family room, just the 2 of us, it was massive.( fam room numbers are 113/213/313/413, and 115/215/315/415). Rooms were cleaned daily and linen/towels changed every two days.
The room furniture could do with some renewals, but what was there was serviceable.
Pool was big and clean, pool bar menu was as good as any we saw in Marmaris, and the meals we had there were very nice. Especially the night time meals.
The Turkish Bath in the basement was the best £12 we spent, FANTASTIC, is the only way to describe it. we were so relaxed we drifted off and were left to wake in our own time. The whole thing took 2 hours, not like the ones we had through the rep or stalls outside, where it was just a get the money quick exercise.
Can't understand why the reps sell the baths down the road when the quality is so high on site. (Suppose commission has something to do with it)
Plenty of bars and restaurants around, Carols bar and Violets were very good, Musties a bit pricey, and noisy.
The staff were excellent, apart from one man in the dining room. Sid the pool bar manager is a character, a bit inclined to hassle you to stay but easy to put in his place, without falling out with him. He's hamless and good hearted really.
An excellent outside feature is the bus station just over the road, 4 different dolmus numbers leave for all parts of Marmaris, every 10 mins, and return there. from the Tansas trminus.
We are going back to Marmaris for Sept/Oct 07, not stating at the Plaza, as we need an apartment for an 8 week stay, but would deffinitely reccommend the "Royal Plaza", and will use it again for shorter stays.
Hi FABlacklock, Was the Turkish Bath in the hotel open to anyone or is it Hotel guests only. Our first visit to Turkey at the end of the month so we are really looking to it.
