Hi,
I am looking at finding a site for my family's very first go at camping.
We have the kit, we just need some advice on where to go.
For our first attempt, we are only looking at a weekend trip, so we need somewhere near to home - Yorkshire.
We'd like somewhere that has good facilities (i need my home comforts), with stuff to do for the kids.
Does anyone have any suggestions at all???????
Plus any advice at all for newbies would be welcome!
Castle Howard has an excellent camp site, stayed on it recently.
we stay at thornwick bay which is at flamborough just along the coast from bridlington. it is a fairly large privately owned site with static caravans, tourers and tents. clean showers and a showbar for families, the acts can be a bit cheesy but the kids love it! We have been going for weekend trips in our tent for a few years now.
We have also stayed at Middleham Farm Campsite in Fylingdales near Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby. This is more of a farmers field type site but again good clean shower block, gets very busy at folk week in August with a brill atmosphere!
Good luck, there are so many to choose from I am sure you will find one that suits you.
However, needless to say, beacuse of the awful weather, the tent is still in the garage!
There's no way I'm going in a field in theis rain. Perhaps next ''summer''
