I have been to Lemnos over 20 years ago, by ferry from Kavala on the mainland then continued on to Lesbos. These ferry connections still run but they are not very frequent.
If you just want to visit Lemnos there are direct charter flights from gatwick.
As for the island itself it is a hilly volcanic island with good beaches around and the odd castle. Myrina is the main port town, a convenient place to stay there are reasonable beaches just north of the port.

Being a couple who just prefer a package holiday and not the challenge of independent travel (life's too short!). We need a full package deal.

I have seen "wind" mentioned a bit..........is the island windy at times and if so when?
