I've just examined my tickets and I can see the flight time to Tenerife from Manchester is 5 and a half hours!!
Is this right? From what I remember it was about 4 hours last time I went.
it depends 
on the airline.
We flew in November last year and the flight time was given as 5 hours 20 mins.
When we queried this the airline said they were taking an alternative flight path to avoid air traffic control charges over France Spain and Portugal by flying 500 miles out over the Atlantic off the western coast.
This they said allowed them to maintain the low fares.... but when I asked
" well who is in charge of our flight then" I just got a shrug of the shoulder.
However have flown with the same airline at least 4 times since and they seem to have reverted back to the "shorter" route and indeed when we flew back last June our flight time was only 3 hours 50 mins
on the airline.
