Yes there is. The smugglers cove trip is fantastic - but be sure to go on a very calm day. The boat drops anchor and you can jump off and swim to shore to see the wreck. Some beautiful views. You can book the trip in any resort. We did it independently. We hired motorbikes, parked down on the little beach and jumped on the boat. Great. Whichever way you do it its fantastic!!
I think I read somewhere that someone called Spyros runs some good boat trips around Zante to smugglers cove, blue caves etc. I know this sounds daft but could anyone tell me if you have to get off the boat and swim much on these trips as I am really keen to do some but my other half really dislikes swimming and is not a confident swimmer. I just want to know if it would be a waste of time to do the trips if you wont swim there or wether they're still worth doing?
Thanks very much!

We did a trip with Spiros in 2005 (to see the turtles etc) and it was brilliant, the boat stops to let you off to swim if you want, I didn't get off but hubby and sons did. All the ladies and children have a go at steering the boat.
We are going to Zakynthos in 3 weeks and last night I emailed Spiros for info on the trip to the Blue Caves. It goes at 8.30am and costs 40 euro's. I have emailed him again to see if we can book it before we go as we are not staying in Tsilivi this year.
Hope this helps and let me know if you need any other info?
When are you going to Zakynthos?

Last year we travelled by car to do a trip on a boat, however when we got there the water was too choppy.
Hope this helps and let me know if you need any other info?

I am not losing it am I?
I replied to 2 seperate postings and it looks like they have been combined into the one.

No you're not losing it, I think my post got moved!!!
Thanks for the advice, that's great, we really wanted to do the smugglers cove trip but hoping you wont need to swim and that the boat goes right up to the shore. I have e-mailed Spiros.
Thanks very much.

We did the trip with Spiros in sep 2005, we paid 75 euros for 2. We booked with a travel office near our hotel, they told us we would be able to swim to the wreck, when we got there he said it was too rough. We were all shocked as it was calm. He took us to a little harbour where he knew the owner of a cafe, he must have got free food. There was a disgusting beach there, filthy nappies strewn about. I did not think it was value for money.

Yes the trip is fantastic but make sure the sea is like a mill pond. I would certainly not book this trip in advance. Wait and see the weather forecast.

Has anyone been on this boat trip?! is it good?!

Went on not a bad day, But when you get to the top of the island and start turning it do get your stomach.
To be quite honest I would say that you get to see more of the island by coach. On the boat once you have seen one cave you have seen them all. We were on for about 6 Hrs and it was a long time.
We got to smuggers cove but you couldn't just walk to the beach you had to dive from the boat which was about 8ft deep . The Beach looks lovely but the sand is made from the rock and it is like glass. so beware !!
On the pictures it looks like they put a bridge to the beach! How can you take your cameras off of the boat? Its a bit pointless really because the whole idea was to go and take pictures, hope that you can!
You will have to take an underwater camera ( they sell them all over the island )
Like i said it's better to do the coach trip or do one DIY.
Hope this helps
Yeah it does thanks very much! Just thought that you would be able to seen as its a great view to take pictures from! Well we will have to see when we get there and make our decision from that! Thanks!
Just back from Zante. We booked through Dionysis Tours for the Blue Caves/Smugglers Cove trip. It cost 14 euros each- half the price of the holiday company. This was our second trip with them and they were very good. The day we went was very calm until we passed the Blue Caves (you can jump into the water there. There are life jackets available or you can stay onboard) From there to Smugglers Cove was pretty rough which meant we couldn't have the planned 2 hours on the beach. On that occasion the ramp would have gone onto the beach but we literally turned around and headed back to calmer waters much to the disappointment but relief of many We managed to get some good photos from the boat but it wasn't very easy as you could not stand to take them as you got tossed all over the place! Apparently the next day they were able to land. Luck of the draw! It was absolutely stunning though and definitely worth seeing.
