Hold on here some of the posters on this topic have been going to Cyprus for 15-20yrs plus and are not knocking Cyprus we are pointing out that at the present rate tourists will stay away even more than they are now a fact that ALL in the tourist industry have been complaining about for years.
Ask around when you get there in September ( taxi drivers are a good start.)

Everyone complain about CY not so, wild horses would not drag me back to the UK I love Cyprus with a passion, but cost are altogether another thing, for holiday makers and us poor souls who have to endure life here

I suppose when you consider the constantant upping of taxes and such here in the Uk, Cyprus isn't that bad at all....

**remembers not to bother packing the wild horses, would be a waste of luggage space**

Strewth Steve that would servery ruin your luggage allowance, but living here is not like holidaying, locals of course know where to eat and drink, some of us have to, but Cyprus still is a cheap place to live, I could give you many instances but I am off out for a meze....again

Jim I know what its like (a little) after making Stifado (in our self catering hotel room on a tiny little mini oven thing) last year.. I bought a big lump of beef, bag full of baby onions, red wine vinegar, red wine, olive oil, a box of corriander seeds, oregano, cinnamon sticks, beef stock cubes and garlic + some (Cyprus) potatoes and veg came to a little over CY£10 (which is probably what I would have had to pay just for the beef here in the UK, and it was much better quality in Orphandies in Paralimni) (plus a secret ingredient that was already in the fridge, but that is also available in the uk for about 4x the cost)

hi everyone yea its a little sad that Cyprus is going into the euro and i feel sad for the locals if trade is down :( . but the way i look at it is you save and work hard all year round for your holiday so go and enjoy it. yea cyprus is a little more expensive to get too but its such a nicer place to be once your there. my wife and I both work it out that if you pay the same as you do at home for a meal and it is worth it then fine and if it is cheaper then great order more beer lol :D .
