We travelled on E-tickets from Munich to Goa with Condor in March, no problems going, or coming back, and I was a bit worried about how they would cope at Dabolim.
No problem at all. E-tickets are very common in India.

Remember that Mumbai is a big business hub and loads of people will have etickets. Have etickets myself for Delhi and Mumbai and also for internal flights.
We did e-tickets with Virgin & Spicejet no problems
I travelled from Mumabi to Heathrow with no problems.
