To avoid flying with such an airline (you did well that it landed without coming off the runway like it did in May) you need to check with the holiday company if they are basing an aircraft at the airport you are going from. If they aren't chances are you will get a sub chartered aircraft.

Lte are not on the airport and airline discussion forum
Oh yes they are ...
Pillows on short hauls flights are getting rarer and rarer, take your own blow up one if this is something you will require as they are becoming less available.
TV and radio, although this is becoming more and more the norm there are still a number of aircraft that do not have systems installed.
The reason First Choice may not use their own aircraft is that all the major tour operators aircraft fleets are usual the size to cope with the winter programme they then buy in extra capacity to cope with the summer demand. If they didnt they would have a lot of aircraft sitting around in the winter doing nothing.
That said LTE are a basic charter airline very much no frills, First Choice could have paid extra to make the meals and drinks service better but at the end of the day it is a standard charter aircraft. You obviously have not flown with any of the low cost airlines like Easyjet and Ryanair who charge for everything ( and also do not have inflight entertainment systems ).
Difficult to avoid LTE if buying through a tour operator as they do not specify which aircraft/airline as this can change. DIY where you choose the airline and then buy the accommodation is one way.
Kind Regards
Stewart
