Hi ChasSmash

I don't think its a nationality thing, I just think its a human trait.
some people are so predictable. If you see someone on a sun bed early in the morning, and the next day they lose it!!.
The very next day they'll be up even earlier to get THEIR sun bed back.

They will try and get the same bed, the same seat in the restaurant, the same seat in the bar, etc etc. people are habitual. have a look around any pool in any resort and the same people will be in the same position or as near as damn it for the duration of their hols.

we are goin to the Algarve next year and the hotel at the top of our list is the Rocamar. I would appreicate your comments on it, if you could. Would you recommend it?. Looking at the pool/sun deck, it doesn't look very big, maybe that was the problem of the bed stealers.

They did have a problem with towel on the sunbed syndrome at the Cerro Alagoa last year. They had signs up saying it was not allowed, but people, mainly Germans unfortunately, carried on doing it. Until one morning after breakfast the culprits came down to find all their towels in a heap on the reception floor... :rofl

We stayed at the Cerro Alagoa last July and watched the staff collect the towels off the sunbeds at about 10.00am and leave them in a huge pile on a sunbed by the pool,at about 2.00pm there were a number of towels on the sunbed where the hotel staff had left them!

Hello Perry, It was the same this year, the staff did it once while we were there this July but it only worked for one day, then it was back to the same thing. If the staff did it every other day I am sure they could put a stop to it, and by the way it was mostly the English who did it not the Germans for the two weeks we were there (for once)

I've never had a problem with this either in The Algarve or elsewhere. Suppose we've been lucky. Love the idea of the staff collecting the towels off the beds and putting them in a pile for people to collect later. Do this every day and they'll soon get the message. End of problem!

Just being honest and for a laugh have any one of yous done the same thing?, I did it in Minorca many years ago on holiday on my own to have a chill out thing from the family & everytime i went down to the pool to find a spot there were towels galore on every bed, so decided to, if you cant beat em join em. Up at 8am down to the pool, towel on sunbed and then go and enjoy breakfast, it worked a treat. Gladly now I dont have a problem cos have the peace and tranquility of our own place on the Algarve. Sat one morning in Cyprus and watched the pool bar waiter collect all towels on beds without people on and dump them in the pool. Class act the wee fella. We had a great morning watching all the late arrivals/bed stealers swaggering down only to have to fish their towels form the pool.

Good enetertainment. Apparently he did this nearly every day as some people obviously didn't learn :D

Can honestly say I have never reserved a bed, I'm an early riser anyway 8)

At the Vilanova in Sao Joao the reps collect any towels left on sunbeds every morning around 9-9.30am. Its the fairest thing to do imo

Wrote a big report for hotel reviews, but flaming computer crashed just as I finished it! If you'd like to PM me, I'd be happy to give you the lowdown on the Rocamar.
