Hello Everyone, this is my first post on Holiday Truths,
I am looking to visit Turkey sometime in Sept this year.My partner and I are in our late 40's and are looking for somewhere relaxing but with plenty to do at the same time.
Anywhere with lager-louts is definately out.Dalyan and Olu Deniz look tempting but I can't settle on a hotel having read countless conflicting reports.
Any advise / recommendations will be most welcome,
Thank you,
Have a browse on Icmeler Online, they have great prices and lots of very useful information about the resort.
The music has to go off at 12 there and from what i make out its a great resort for all ages,i go for the 1st time in 3 weeks.
there are a lot of good hotels in olu depends whether you want all inc or b&b, all inc hotels that get good reports are belcekiz beach, olu deniz resort & sun city , ive stayed at lykia world its full board + and that is the best hotel ive stayed its fab, i highly recommend it. there are lots of good b&bs ie asena, turk hotel, karbel, montebello etc
Dalyan is a proper town where people have lived and worked for a long time.
However Olu was just built as a resort for holiday makers. Where the hotels, bars, restaurants and shops are now, 20 years ago (when I first went to Turkey) it was all fields and has never been a town, so therefore has no centre.
Both are laid back and have a good selection of places to eat and drink. Both get a lot of mozzies. However, I suppose that Olu has more of the 'beach bum' crowd because of the paragliding and being right on the beach.
Dalyan's beach is a taxi-boat or dolmus ride away which takes about 1/2 hour.
I think that Dalyan appears to have what I am looking for, however the mozzie situation does concern me,just how much of a problem can it be ?
Cheers,
think was 7pm.
Don't let them put you off Dalyan. Just take the usual measures to fend the blighters off. There's a topic on this board all about the various things that work for people. Personally, I use the tablets in the bedroom and buy the local SinKov to spray on myself. When I do this I never get bitten.
The Dalyan mozzies aren't much of a problem during the day, but at night they like to come out for a nibble! I remember a few years ago, a woman who moved from England to stay in Dalyan, said that she could tell the time by when the mozzies appeared in the evening! They just suddenly appeared at a certain time, which I Don't let them put you off Dalyan. Just take the usual measures to fend the blighters off. We have just come back, husband didnt want to go, but we loved it, layed back but plenty going on, beautiful scenery, boat trips great, different from other resorts, people as usual can't do enough for you, try a meal on the river, views gorgeous especially the rock tombs, go for one of the smaller hotels were the family will really look after you. We stayed at the Mehtap which we could not fault, well looked after, staff and owners loverly, very reasonable rates, about 10 mins walk from town. AC and transfer included in price.Hope you enjoy your holiday
