Hello all, i've booked to go to the negresco princess on 16th may 06 for 2wks half board with Thomson- 4 adults 2 kids(3.12) and have a few questions if anyone can help.
ive read the reviews and im quite happy with what ive read, with the only negative is that it's quite far awy from the resort centre.
1. will i have to take 2 buses to port aventura via the resort centre or will the same bus do the entire journey?
2. how much will the bus cost?
3. can you hire motorised wheelchairs in port aventura?
4. is it worth booking port aventura tickets now or wait to see if there will be any other special offers between now + may?
5. our 3 yr old turns 4 just before we go, meaning we would have to pay for his ticket..how strict are they for asking for kids id's?..if we say he's still 3!
6. anyone on the boards got personal experiance of the negresco princess..or of salou in may??
regards craig
Where do i start????
I have never stayed here but know where it is as i have seen it loads of times on drop offs/pick ups and spoke to people that have stayed there. I think it is classed as being in Cap Salou, its down at the bottom of a lane and opposite is the sister hotel Punta Dorada Princess. Word of warning, dont be put off as you are going down the lane, some of the Apartment blocks are run down and shabby but your Hotel certainly is not like this. It does seem to be a good hotel, go here to find photos
http://www.accomline.com
find photo number 8 (of 10) look beyond the trees, the buildings that you can just see is Salou, its not that far really and recently there has been a new path made thats not far from your Hotels doors.
Right now for the answers to your questions.
1) 1 bus will take you to Port Aventura, there will be a sign saying so in the window, the bus stops are at the top of the lane i was telling you about, roughly 5 mins walk.
2)Bus fare roughly 1.50 euros an adult, they dont charge small children.
3)Not sure although i think that they probably will because you can hire other things, check out the website it may tell you there
http://www.portaventura.es
4)it depends on how many days you want to spend there really, if you have never been before and plan to do/see it all then you would need at least 3 day ticket. If there are no special offers on when you get to the gate then this could work out really expensive to pay each day. Here are some ticket sites

http://www.discount-attraction-tickets.com http://www.themeparktix.com
5) Some people say that they have been asked for passport I.D to prove ages but i never have in all the times i have been there. I have fibbed and got my kids in for free before but its the chance you take.
6)I love Salou in may, the weather is lovely, Hot but not too much for the
kids, occasionally there will be rain/storm on a night. The worst days i have had in may was a few days overcast and very light rain but it soon ended and the sun was out again. The beach in Salou is great for the kids, really clean, shallow water.
Have a great time
Loulou
Thanks loulou for the excellent information. you say you've done loads of drop offs/pick ups to this hotel and its down a lane.....does this mean you've got to walk down the lane with your cases or does the coach stop right outside the hotel?
It all depends on the driver dropping you off, although most spin the bus around at the top of the lane then back down it.
Been to the port aventura website but cant find aything about electric wheelchairs, has anyone got experience oh hiring these?
We stayed at this hotel Sept 05,(myself,wife and 4yo son)hotel was nice, food was ok,by day 8 i was gettin bored with it,i would class the breakfast as good and the evening meals as above average.hotel is about a 15min walk to resort centre salou, along the beach and up a steep hill,we never got the bus so i'm unsure, but there is a bus stop at the top off the road 5min walk..beach is a 5/10min walk.Cap salou is about a 10min walk and would advised u to try the smuggler inn some nite for food or even just a quiet drink,Food is excellent and the staff where wonderful...We had a great room,we asked for a sea view on a low floor and got both,u get the evening sun also, which was great...we enjoyed our stay, but i have to say i enjoyed my previous holidays to Ibiza much more,i got the impression Salou would be a great place for a lads/girls weeks breakaway.....

good god...we have vays off making you talk!!!!!!
Do you have a problem with our terms and conditons?
There is a very good reason for not allowing text style abbreviations. Apart from the fact that it's messy and some members can't understand it, we have had complaints in the past from visually impaired members who feel excluded from discussions where text style abbreviations are used, because their screen readers don't recognise it.

problems lol off coarse not
Visited the hotel last summer while staying in P. Avenutura for lunch as we really like the beach here. Have improved the access to the beach a lot since our last visit.
Have a great holiday.
Starry.
So would 'eg' come up as 'example' on the visually impaireds screen readers?
I have a friend that is visiting the Negresco Princess in June and would apprciate any info / tips that you have on the hotel, is there any good pubs that you reccomend and are there any good coctail bars in Salou or Cap Salou
Thanks

IM going here on Tuesday 16th May for 2 weeks....I will report back and tell you how it goes.... It might be out of the way a bit but ive heard good things about it.
ok thanks very much, keep us informed
I am going on holiday to Negresco Princess in 3 weeks and was just wondering if anybody has been there this year and what it is like. Is it far from centre of Salou, what are the beaches like around it and how is the food? I have really only read great things about the hotel but most of the reviews are back from 2005.
Thanks
1 . It mentions a gym/ sauna , is that extra to pay or part of the deal when pay for hotel.
2 . Also , I read that its sister hotel Punta Dorada across road, is available to use amenities and facilities as well. is this true? and is there much difference between the two hotels in what facilities and stuff it provides?
3 . The beach that is off hotel , is it sandy and not too crowded?
4 . Does the pool allow lilo's and stuff like that in pool, my mom is not a v confident swimmer and likes to use one to help splash about
5. Is it possible to rent a kettel at reception, i read certain things possible to rent out, but kettle wasn't specifically mentioned. and my mom likes her cup of tea regularly and at very weird times day and night , she will survive without it , but would be nice if its possible
And finally, is the Negresco near the ONtario apartments also in Cap Salou. I stayed there before and its not too far from the main Salou.
sorry for so many questions, we're not fussy, just organising it diy style a bit more complicated than packages
