Right we are very close to booking a villa on the outskirts of Carvoeiro, prolly a 20 min walk which isn't a prob to be honest because the villa is nice and big, however what can people tell me about Carvoeiro? is there enough pubs and bars, restuarants etc or is this place like a ghost town? looking to go in July/Aug 08.
Was put of Armaceo de pera because of all the big flats that has scared the area - hopefully Carvoeiro is more traditional!

I stayed in Monte Dorado complex for a week last July and really enjoyed it. Plenty of places to eat. Nice beach, not the biggest but plenty of space for all. It's quite hilly so depending on where your villa is you'll probably have to walk up/down one in/out of town. Choice of supermarkets and there's an ATM.

Will guarantee you will love the place as much as we do. Loads of places to eat & several beaches in and around the area depending on where you are staying. Please do check out http://www.carvoeiro.com/[/img] as previously stated as you will get load of tips & advice. We are a friendly bunch over there.
Cheers for the replies, sounds like i did right picking this place over Amaceo.
With our party there will be Teenagers and a 10 year old girl so will there be much entertainment for them i.e Karaoke bars/ disco music? you know all the requirements of the younger element.
It will be in July/Aug so i'm guessing it won't be too quiet.

Cheers for that TBH as long as they have a few bars and a good few Restaurants that will do for me, i was just thinking about the younger ones but they seem keen on this place regardless now.
BTW i have been told the taxi will cost about 10 euros to get to Carvoeiro so how far do you reckon the villa is?

We were only a 5 min walk into town so we never had to catch a cab. If I had to guess based purely on the price of 10E I'd say no more than 10mins drive.
