i booked a holiday earler this year for myself and other family members. we are due to go in the next week and our tickets arrived last week.
when i opened them it was to find that not only have the flight times changed but the airline that we are meant to be flying with has changed too
i didnt book it as a package deal i went online looking for a specific hotel got a few qoutes and the one we booked was the cheapest.
when i phoned to book they offerd to book the flights and transfers we disscussed the different airlines and prices and we chose an airline and times paid in full and thought no more of it until the tickets arrived.
the flight on the way out was not changed a great deal but on the way home we are now leavng our resort a whole 14 hours earlier than originally booked the problem we have is that we have to catch a coneccting flight as we dont live in the uk and we would have arrived in the uk originally at 06.35 and we were on the 08.35 flight home.
as our flight time has changed so much we have had to find a hotel in the uk at our own exspense.
we now leave our resort at 17.00 and arrive in the uk at 19.30
and are still on our original flight the next morning at 08.35 we tried to change to an evening flight but by the time we arrive in the uk we are too late for the last flight to where we live.
i contacted the travel agent as soon as the tickets arrived and explained
that i wasnt happy with the fight and airline changes and was told that there was nothing that could be done
i asked how long had they known about the changes and didnt get a reply
explained that i thought that that should have notified me as soon as they found out and was told that i should think myself lucky that some people only get 2 days notice!!
i was treated quite rudely and the girl raised her voice too which i wasnt pleased with either we were offered no help whatsoever
i have since been on the website and they are selling flights to the same resort with another airline at the same times as our original flights were booked why were we not changed on to these flight?
if it was due to cost if the travel agent had contacted us and disscussed it with us we would have sorted something out but we were not offerd any alternative.
maybe i am a daft but i would have thought that common deciencey would have been to notify us at the time of the change and try to help us find alternative flights obviously im wrong
one thing for sure i wont be booking with this travek agent again
do i put this down to expirience and go and enjoy my holiday or have i got any rights

It's going to be your law that the holiday was booked under, and this will dictate what rights you have.
Sorry to be asking so many questions, oooh and ah sympathising is OK, but within the time constraints we have to get down to nuts and bolts as soon as we can.
Doesn't stop me saying you've had a rough deal though!

I have to say that there is a high chance you would have missed that flight - it's really not long enough to go through immigration, collect your baggage, check in for the second flight and go through security.
So on the bright side it's now a dead cert that you will catch it...
