Hi, I have a rucksack style cool bag, which has silver insulated lining, I want to take it with me when we go to Gran Canaria soon, as we like to picnic, but am not sure what I should do.
Should I pack it in my suitcase, but then will my suitcase be at risk as it will look strange on any xray.
Should I empty it of knifes etc and take it as hand luggage? really would like some help as am worried about it
We usually put our cool bag, which also has the silver lining, in our suitcase, and have never had any problems.
I take my small cool bag in my hand luggage so my butties are cool for on the plane. I also buy my chilled water airside and pop that in also. I have had no problems so far!!.
Only worried as it is quite a thick bag, but will be handy on holiday, I was going to use it as a holdall for the plane, but last time I went I had to empty my normal bag completely, I can see me being stopped again, mind you I don't mind as long as they don't take it off me at the airport, as it cost quite a bit.
why not check with the airport or airline
I'd put it in suitcase, the scanners for hold luggage are sensitive enough that I'd be evry surprised if they couldn't identify that a cool bag is legit.
None of us were even stopped following the scanning of the bags, they were more interested in ALL the people with bottles/containers with more than 100ml liquids in their hand luggage
I don't understand why people think the lining would be a problem As long as you stick to the regs about the liquids and sharp implements I don't see any issues just because the bags lined. The scanners can see through the material so it's not an issue and if they're concerned they'd just ask you to open the bag and search it.
Remmber that the 'silver' lining is not metal but plastic and so is see through regarding X rays.
Thank-you
