'Cos most people on AI don't step outside their hotel... Which is a shame with all the cracking restaurants and bars around.

thats one thing me and my mrs do, always go out and eat... its mainly so we dont have to worry about the cash when we are in the hotel and by the pool and want a drink

So Andy what you are saying is you go AI just for the drinks as you eat out the majority of the time. Doesn't sound such a good idea to me unless you have got your AI holiday at a real bargain price. AI is good value , if you have a certain budget to stick to regarding cash-flow, & if you have got lots of kids in your party wanting ice creams, pop & snacks etc all day & you all eat and drink in the hotel the majority of the time. Saying that you miss all the great restaurants/bars/attractions. Not for me I'm afraid. Cheers Jayjan

Good for you Andy, it gladdens my heart to hear it. Obviously you have a few bob to be able to do both, but if you can afford it why not. As you say, saves you worrying about cash at the poolside.

But as a bar owner, it still cheeses me off that they are allowed to do AI in the middle of the biggest resort on the Algarve. Taken to an extreme, everyone goes AI, all the restaurants and bars close and Albufeira becomes a ghost town that no-one would be intrested in visiting anymore.

I can see your point, Algarveaddick, BUT, as Jayjan says, too many people now realise that there are soooooo many wonderful places to go to eat and for a drink in the Algarve that I can't see everyone rushing to do AI.
It is excellent value for people with young kids but not for me either. It's a great part of the holiday trying old favourites and new places too.
