Hi Everyone, Got back from Turkey on the 14 August and we enjoyed it
that much we are considering going again in the October half term. The
only thing is, that last year in Oct we went to Majorca and although the
holiday was ok our 15 year old son was bored rotten. There was no other
teens there for him to make friends with, and he won't spend all day with
us. Can anyone reflect on an October holiday in Marmaris preferably and
whether it was suitable for a 15 year old. Many thanks for all your help
with this and previous posts...
I have had 2 teenagers on holiday in October for the last 3 years and didnt have a problem, I think that the Turkish people make the holiday for the Adults and the Children also as they are so friendly with everyone, What you will find is that many many places will be closed for the season, Particularly those hotels Appartments bars Restauraunts in outlying areas.
I know some of their stuff closes down for wintre season (some activities & outside eating) but when do they count winter hours?
I have emailed them, we are going on 22nd Oct for 7 nights
I would say that your week will be the last week of the tourist season, so I'll think you'll find a lot of tourist places closed.
I've been the last week of the season and had a brilliant time. Some restaurants do close down but there is still a lot of choice. Lots of bargains to be had too.
can anyone tell me what sort of weather it is around half term in october?
my friend is going and its her first time to turkey , ive gone on how fantastic it is and was wondering is it still hot???
and evening temps,do you need a jacket?
sallington
Yes it will still be hot during the day, In the evening you will need a cardigan or light jacket.
I am also hoping that the weather will be nice in october, I have just booked for a week staying in Ovacik travelling on the 15 October for 2 adults 2 children for £461 including flights, transfers and accomodation ( I think I have got a good deal) just need to convince hubby the weather will be good and that it really is a bargain.
The weather in October is unpredictable and unfortunately you take pot luck. Some years the weather holds through until the end of November or even Christmas, other years it breaks in October and it rains. Thunder storms can be pretty spectacular too! Over the years I would say for me it has been a 50/50 experience. Of the bad fortnights (last 2 weeks of the month always) about a week will have been lost to bad weather.
