Hi,
my partner and I have decided to book a last minute holiday for the last week of September. I'm considering Rhodes or Crete (will be posting this on the Crete forum too!) at the moment, partly for the history and partly for the reputation for good weather. I've heard good things about Lindos but am really put off by the idea of a resort like faliraki and would like some opinions on good places to head for please. It's just the two of us, and we don't particularly mind what type of accommodation. Top of our list is a good beach for lazing and snorkelling, we also want good places to eat nearby but not to be surrounded by karaoke bars and neon! Any suggestions?

I would recommend Lindos or Pefkos, both are lovely resorts and are not like Faliraki. I have been going for the last 15 years and am still loving it. They both have a good selection of bars and restaurants but is not an 18-30 resort.
For a couple I would definitely recomend Lindos in Rhodes, its so beautiful, has lots of history, excellent restaurants/tavernas, beautiful beaches, enough going on but not crazy, lovely people, stay in the village its so nice, Olympic holidays have some good last minute deals on line, if you want a pool you can always use the one at the Lindos View up on the hill. Its also very warm at this time of year, Crete always has a breeze. There are watersports, hire a car and see the island, you never have to go anywhere near Faliraki, lol. Pefkos is very quiet this time of year, as are most of the other smaller resorts, Lindos has everything, if you decide to go I have a map of the village if you need it. I'm off there again in October and can't wait. If you need any more info just let me know...

been to lindos twice, great for couples. we stayed at the lindos gardens and the lambis studios- the ones with pool- great accomodation. set up frm the village, great views of the acropolis. try ambrosia restaurant for a special meal - wonderful! we also liked marias, alex's and casa del pizza (run by italians). fab cocktails at captains bar, museum bar and lindian house. for some great music - socrates bar is a must. the beach is lovely v clean and clear water. hope this helps.

The weather should still be fairly warm we went for 2 weeks at the begining of October and only had one rainy day and that didn't last too long. lindos is a charming village with several taverna's, bars and shops very relaxing we only spent a couple of days here sight seeing so I don't know what the accomadation is like. You certainly won't find loud music bars here mind you we went during the day. The beach is lovely and sandy but not that big.
the good thing about lindos is that it stays warm at night. we went last oct and didnt need a jumper/cardi at all. been to other places in june/july and been cold at night.

Try Direct Greece they have the best accommodation in the village. All accommodation is very central with most tour operators anyway. They have 3 sandy beaches and nights are lively but not lively 18-30 types. I have been loads of times with my mum before I was married and we had a ball. It is very safe and if you stay in the village everything is very central within walking distance
Thats Brilliant thanks I will get looking and let you know,
hi crockergirl, do you realise accomadation in lindos village have no pools, super if your a beach person, appts up on krana hill all have pools and are 10mins or so walk into the village, enjoy
Regards,Mel
There are some good reviews on the trip advisor web site with some good pictures if this helps.

take a look at Olympic Holidays webiste their oneline prices are much cheaper than high street and they are also cheaper tham most holiday companys anyway, they specialise in Greece, Turkey Cyprus etc..
I go out to Lindos on 3rd Oct , got a great deal, 2 weeks for 347 quid!
Lindos is pefect, loads of places to eat, great food, lots of bars, theres everything you need and its still really good weather even till end oct. Staying in the village itself is great, everything is close at hand, you can use the pool at Lindos View. not a problem, but its quite a walk UP HILL if you are staying there after an evening in the village! The beaches are lovely, warm and clean, 4 to choose from, Main bay has more facilities.

happy hols, Mel
All the accommodation on Krana Hill is supposed to be fantastic. It is all newly built and they come highly recommended.

It is about a ten minute walk in, I would say walk in at night and then get a taxi back up from the main square which will cost a couple of euros. People walk it both ways but taxis are available. There is a little supermarket up on Krana Hill so you have everything you need to hand so at least you dont have to walk into the village for shopping.
all I need now are any tips you may have any must see's and do's would be great. Thanks for all the help, yippeeeeeeee!
Melx
