A check with Companies House and Creditgate does not show them as having gone out of business. Are we looking at the correct company?

I checked their ATOL number with CAA come up unable to find under the number T7176 or under the name.

On different forum somebody said they have gone bust on the 7/9/07 and he was in turkey, hotel told him he had to pay £1200 before leaving.

Interestingly I have done a credit search on:

Vision Holidays Limited - who are still apparently trading

However, having looked at the ATOL number and the TTA number, neither show Vision Holidays as being registered. Rather concerning? I'm unsure.

Vision Holidays are the "retail agent" of us, but it would appear that we are travelling under "goldtrail travel (.co.uk)" and our flight tickets came under "fly brits" (although strangely no mention of the hotel we booked other than a confirmation email from vision holiday).

Clouded Judgment aside, I'm sat wondering:

a. If our contract is with Vision Holiday and if they have gone bust whether Goldtrail Travel can quite reasonably turn around to us and say "tough, you haven't paid us" and we lose our holiday and any protection afforded us by ATOL as Vision aren't actually registered, seemingly.

b. Who the hell "Fly Brits" are, despite the sole director of that company also being the sole director of Vision Holidays Limited.

c. Whether we will be f* when we land in Turkey on Thursday and try to go to our hotel at the Ayaz.

I guess I'll have to sleep on it. :?

my mate works for thomson and she said she had a customer who came in yesterday in tears was ment to fly to turkey and she didnt go cos the compant went bust!!!

they made her sit in the aiport for 12 hours let her board and anything

my mate said this women was in a bad way.

Calling the Vision Holiday reservations number on 0870 067 2175, a recorded message confirms that the company ceased trading on 7 September 2007 and customers are advised to contact the Civil Aviation Authority at http://www.caa.co.uk

However, the ATOL search page on the CAA website shows no listing for Vision Holiday, or their ATOL number T7176.

further to previous posts on Vision Holidays, I can confirm from reliable information received from somebody in resort in Hisaronu Turkey that most definitely this company has ceased trading.

I booked a holiday with this company in June 2007 through their website
their address is listed as Vision Holiday Suite 4B County House Beckenham KENT BR3 4UF Company Number 4345776 Tel: 0870 067 2175, on calling this number 08/09/2007 a recorded message states the company ceased trading 07/09/2007 please contact The Civil Aviation Authority
Vision Holidays website is still on line and it states... quote
" Fully protected Holidays -Vision Holiday is a TTA Bonded Retail Agent to ATOL Protected Companies. Our TTA Number is U1585 and ATOL number is T7176, ATOL Protection extends primarily to customers who book and pay in th UK"... unquote

I received flight coupons only two days ago under the cover of Goldtrail Travel, I was supposed to be travelling on the 20th September, I contacted Goldtrail directly on Sat 08 Sept to check the validity of these tickets, to be told that it is unlikely that these are now valid and that I will be officially contacted by the CAA due to Vision Holidays ceasing trading...It all seems very complicated as to what is going to happen and whether we can retrieve our holiday plans and get recompense.

We were supposed to be staying at Pinara Apartments in Hisaronu and since my daughter had previously had a holiday through Vision in May this year I had their telephone contact, having called the owner directly in Hisaronu Saturday afternoon (08 Sept) it was confirmed to me that all pre-booked reservations Vision Holiday's had with these apartments have been cancelled, all very disconcerting !!!

The worrying part is whether I am covered through ATOL or not after reading previous posts on this company, it all sounds very dodgy indeed !!

I am sure there must be many people out there looking forward to a holiday booked with this Vision Holidays totally unaware at present of what has happened.

Any further posts from members with more information would be welcome

Firstly this thread should be a thread on its own and put in the turkey forum, it would be easier for members to read this thread instead having to read through 2 previous pages. Maybe the titled should be change to vision holidays ceased trading which will draw the attention to members who have booked through vision holidays but know nothing about the company ceasing to trade. Was this thread moved to another thread.

Firstly anybody who has booked through vision holidays and it is with a tour operator, the tour operators ATOL number will cover any lost monies. Goldtrial are a tour operator.

I will be checking the ATOL number membership of small tour operators to see if its a valid ATOL number if I am considering to book with a small operator. Its all too easy to look at a company who shows a ATOL licence number and we take it for granted they are telling the truth. This just shows how, when booking any holiday with a small tour operator its easy to be taken in and trust the company because they show a ATOL number.

can't think of a username ... now that it has been established that the company has ceased trading (you will see from earlier posts that there was some doubt and contradiction, that was why I rang them), the topic title has been edited to try and ensure maximum attention. A link to this topic has also been placed in the Turkey forum, a destination which the company appeared to specialise in. However, other European destinations are also shown on their website and so it is perhaps best that the topic remains here in this forum for the benefit of any Vision Holidays clients booked to other countries.

I would agree with the above comments about making this thread a priority.

Thank god we found it when we did and didn't fly out without it all being sorted.

Our hotel said they have been contacted by the TTA (?!) and are supposed to call them back tomorrow morning. I am to contact the hotel tomorrow but they said at the moment we should be okay for the hotel, we'll just need to pay the £30 transfer costs. I don't hold out much hope to be honest.

Neither the ATOL nor the TTA numbers are recognised. Tomorrow will decide what I do in terms of considering our holiday on Thursday, where we go, if anywhere and how I recover the money.

Fingers crossed mastercard will cover the loss!

mr-merc you will be covered by mastercard if you can't get a refund from ATOL. ATOL may send you to mastercard to recover any loss.

I can confirm that after contacting CAA on Monday morning, that I was referrred by them to TTA, they confirmed that Vision Holidays are bonded with them, they have asked me to forward to them by fax copy of invoice & proof of purchase i.e. copy of bank statement, to intiate claim for refund of what I paid for the holiday, the person I spoke to assured me that I would get my monies refunded but it could take 4-6 weeks,

Vision Holidays..................yep, gone bust!!!!! We were on holiday in Icmeler from 27/08/07 till 10/09/07 all booked with Vision. First we heard about it was on the Thursday of our first week there, my mate had been out for a walk in the morning and on arriving back at the hotel was asked could she phone the English office of Vision as they hadn't paid the hotels' bill for a total of 11 rooms,( we had 2 of these rooms ) and the Turkish office were passing the buck saying it was a problem with the English office. We couldn't get any straight answers from either office, just that it was going to be dealt with...................we asked for the rep to come and see us, as the hotel that we were in was going to ask us to leave. The rep did not arrive and luckily the hotel management said that we could stay as their guests that night, this still left us with uncertainty hanging over us, worrying when we should have been relaxing.

Anyhow, we eventually got told that it was "sorted" and spent the rest of the holiday relaxing, it was only on our final two days that we found out that Vision had actually gone bust....................the hotel we were in had NEVER been paid for us staying there, they let us stay for the fortnight free of charge and we were treated like royalty, the hotel lads even ferried us to the airport as we didn't even have the transfer back. Mind you, I don't know if they wanted to do us a favour or were glad to see the back of us!!!!! lol

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone from the Hotel Private............can't wait to get back there, but will book through a good tour operator this time!!

Earlier on this year - early June we were told by the hotel we were at that Vision had not paid for rooms the previous year and as a 'favour' to them we agreed to call them on the day we were leaving to say the hotel were holding our passports and wouldn't give them back in order to see if it prompted a reaction ( we were in posseison of our passports at all times!) - after what sounded like a heated debate between the manager and vision they eventually sent a rep round quite quickly - we didnt have any contact with them and then a few weeks later we were in touch with the hotel and they said that Vision had cancelled any bookings with them for this season... I guess they had been on a nose dive for a while... but what hadnt occured to me was that the hotel still hadnt recieved any payment from Vision for our stay... I feel very sorry for all the people who are goign to be disappointed but also worry about the knock on effect for the hotels - will they be reimbursed by anyone?
