I always do - well not teabags but coffee and sugar anyway - usually decant to a tupperware tub and put in a plastic bag after once ending up with a case full of coffee!
we do and have every year BUT make sure the coffee and sugar are well sealed in double plastic bags and tape,, we had one bust open on us a few years back we had sugar cloths all week and after 2 yrs of use and vacuuming still had sugar granules in the case

I take tea bags and just take them in the box and they've always been OK
I've taken teabags, travel kettle etc every year without problem
We have always taken t bags with us just wrap them up well 
Actually, I always take a small teapot too as most places don't supply them. Teabags etc. are packed inside so it doesn't really take up any space.
Never had a problem with taking tea, coffee or sugar, but now find a lot of places stocking English produce, maybe a little more expensive but worth it in the end, while away check for future reference,
