Believe me you will be grateful to have the pool to cool off in, its not like November in the Canary islands! There may be some thunderstorms in the late afternoon or evening but beforehand you should see plenty of hot sun.

I went to Cuba before in November and the pool was far too cold to even cool off in the hot sun as it cooled right down overnight.

I'm just hoping it's not the same this time.

Actually Stacey you might be right as the pools in PP are large so will take a while to heat up. Theres always the little outdoor jacuzzi though!

Having booked to go in august this year and cancelling due to weather concerns , we have just booked for 6th march 2008 and can't wait. There's 4 of us going , wife, 2 kids (11 & 15) and myself.

A few qustions :
1. We have a lloyds tsb mastercard - will it be ok ?
2. Will sterling travellers cheques be ok, and is there somewhere in the hotel to change them ?
3. How professional are the dive centres operating in that area ?
4 . How much and how good is the deep sea fishing ?

thanks for any replies

We just took a load of £20/£10 notes in a bodybelt and left it in the safe, then just changed what we needed as the time came. Kept the cards for back up.
There is a "bank" to the right of the hotel entrance.
One of our party did a fishing trip. It is fair to say he was not impressed.

At the far right of the beach (facing the water) in the cliffs just past the Blue hotel (Blau Coste Verde?) you can see the local Dive centre, about a 10 minute walk.
We only snorkel so can't help further.

They do take british/european creit /debit cards, but nothing american.
They charge 11% on all cards though.
I don't know about travellers cheques, we took cash which we changed at the bank, as we needed it.

I am off to this resort next week, but not sure if to take my shoes or not. I would not use them at all other than al -la carte restaraunts, but not sure if they are compulsary. I will be taking full sandals and 'posh' trainers but if I can get away with not putting shoes in, I can get more stuff in for the locals:)
Anyone been there recently and not worn shoes to the restaraunts?

Normally smart sandels are OK, I always go in shoes and take sandels and beach shoes dont bother with trainers, mainly spend all day on beach.

Up date have done a search on TA and most people are saying shoes not trainers.

Just a note...men cannot wear sandals in any of the al a carte restaraunts at PP.

We stay at PRDO hotel not far from PP also 5* this is email I had from Manager

¨A la carte restaurants¨---Elegant: long pants and collared shirt. Shoes or leather sandals. Not beach sandals allowed.
Buffet: Bermudas and T-shirt are allowed.

Hope this helps have a great holiday

Thanks snowyboy, I guess I must take shoes then, it would be a shame if they did refuse, I am sure my wife would not be amused if I didn't take her to the romantica on her birthday :)

Hi
We are traveling to Playa Pesquero on the 30th June for 14 nights with our little boy who ill turn 1 on holiday. We booked the holiday at the start of the year and have been really looking forward to it. Over the last couple of weeks i have been reading more recent reports on this hotel on trip advisor and i am now really concerned about taking my son there. There was a lot of people saying they have had really bad food poisoning whilst there. I was planning on letting my son eat breakfast, lunch and dinner from the buffet restaurant as he eats most things anyway but now im not so sure. I would hate for him to get ill. Has any one been? Do you have any advise on what the food is like and what should maybe be avoided. Im now thinking about taking all his meals with me, but as you can imagine it wont be easy taking 14 days worth of meals on holiday. Also does any know what the bottled water is like? I need to watch the sodium content as i need to boil it to make his bottles. Any help and advise would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks

Just like here the bottled water in Cuba usually lists the mineral content on the label so you can check for the sodium content but I've never come across 'agua sin gaz' (still water) that has a high sodium content. There is a naturally sparkling water that does have a high mineral content but it isn't widely available. The most common 'brand' is labelled something like Montana (it has a sketch of mountains on the label) and from memory the mineral content is broadly similar to most spring waters available here.

I can't comment on the food question because I've never stayed at the hotel.
