February is almost certainly the worst month for good weather, plenty of rain and storms. Still fairly mild though.

It's not really a good idea to base your holiday on weather forecasts from one or two people who visit the islands a couple of times a year at most.

Here is a link that might be more useful and definetly more reliable:

February can be very mixed regarding weather. We have been several times in Feb and some year weather has been good, not boiling hot but warm enough to wear t-shirts and no jacket but then again we have also been when its been very wet and cold so one year varies to the next.

I see the origional post was a few years ago, I think the sentiment still holds good.

Malta in February isnt as warm (no surprise) as the summer, but it's still a damn sight warmer than the UK. Daytime a Tee shirt or cardi is enough to stroll about in.

Malta is essentially a working island for the Maltese, who cater - expertly - for us visitors and my wife and I who always visit in the January, February period have never found trouble in enjoying ourselves. True the boats trips are off as they are in the hight of summer when the sea becomes 'uneven'. We have never once had any problems in eating or entertainment and now we have Maltese friends, visiting is now an option.

To anyone who is retired may I suggest you visit one of the websites, like Mercury Direct or Malta Direct and see the many 3, 4, 5, 6 weeks breaks available at half the cost of the summer season. Many Brits come to MAlta to escape the weather at home and think of this, what you dont spend at Tescos or petrol, gas and electric will pay most of your trip anyway.

Cost it out and I'll see you from 7th January 2008.

As folks who read the pages on this forum know I'd go to Malta anytime of the year! I've been a few times in February and yes the weather can be mixed. We've had good and bad and in fact a couple of years ago it hailed (the locals called it snow!), so badly around the Mosta area, it was 3 or 4 inches deep in places. It was amazing to see children building 'snowmen' in Malta. I also remember that it all melted and we had a really sunny afternoon.

I reckon it's a good time to drive around the Islands and it can also be a reasonably cheap time of the year to go with the added bonus of it definitely being better than the horrible weather you'd expect here in the UK in Feb,
