I hope someone can help me. I am wanting help fnding the ight resort for what we are looking for from our holiday. It will be August 208 that we will be travelling.
We want stuff to do during the day, like get a bus into a town where there is shops/markets etc. We want to beable to go on a boat ride. The resort needs to have a nice sandy beach. We do not want it to be a resort that young people go out on drinking holidays, but want somewhere that has a few restarants to choose from on an evening and a nice place to get a quiet drink. We will be travelling with ur daughter who will be 1 and a half so kid clubs are not important, but we do want a quiet place for her, but not too quiet for us (Im finding it impossible to find that middle ground) We are only young ourselfs (Im 23 and my partner is 25) so we do not want it to be a place that is too in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do as we are not wanting to have to hire a car. If anyone can suggest a resort I would be most grateful as I have been into 3 travel agents now and they have suggetsed Greece, but have basically sent me away to choose where is greece I want to go, which I do not know. This is going to be our first holiday as a family and I just do not want it to be ruined by teenagers getting drunk and been too loud, or fo us to be bored as we are totally in teh middle of nowhere.
http://www.lesvos. com for a start. There are no rowdy resorts on this island and Petra would be a good start, close to an interesting town with a good bus service.
There are plenty of places in Greece that meet your criteria, even the infamous lager lout islands still have some lovely resorts. Try We went in May and stayed at the Mythos apartments which were great, right in the centre and only 100 metres from the beach, throughly recommend them.
Thank you so much fo our advice and am going to look now at accomodation for Kos. Thanks again
Could you tell me who you booked the apartments with in Kos as I cant seem to find them
We were lucky enough to get one of the brand new ones and we perfect.
Thomson also had a contract at the Mythos in 2007
I would suggest booking your holiday around the end of October as I have usually found this is when the prices seem to come down. I used to check prices every week and when it came up to a price I wanted to pay then I'd book because prices can vary week to week. Happy holiday hunting.
My proposal is totaly different.
Parga or Nafplion, two very romantic and erotic cities on mainland.
Parga is smaller than Nafplion with a little bit chiller sea but very beautifull scenery around.
Nafplion is bigger and a little more "touristy" with more "night-life"
Both are very well organised to toyr needs i.e. pharmacies, hospital, sandy beaches and a lot to see.
Personal opinion is that Nafplio is more Romantic to walk it, especially old parts of town.
Here is the official page of municipalty of Parga: http://www.parga.gr/dynamic/
Here is the official page of municipalty of Nafplio: http://www.nafplio.gr & http://www.nafplio.info (unfortunately, only in Greek)
Here are some more (private with commercial ads) sites for Nafplio: INVALID URL http://www.nafplio-tour.gr & http://www.nafplio-guide.gr
In case you find them interesting ask me for more infos, also, if you prefer another place i.e. an island let me know which and I will post many infos about it. Remember that visiting an island there are two options. Travel by plane straight to the island or by ship which may be a little exausted for the kid (and also more expensive)
Spyros
I have to agree with Skyllis about Parga. If you can find accommodation near Valtos beach, it is a beautiful sandy bay. From there you can walk or get a water taxi past the ruined castle to the harbour where there are some shops to wander round and plently of places to eat. There are boat trips to other bays and a little road train to Ali Pasha's castle. The area is very scenic. We are considering this as an option next year when we hope to take a holiday with my daughter, her husband and 2 year old grandson, as I think there is something for all of us there.
If hills are not a problem then Lindos on Rhodes might suit too. Also Georgiopoulos on Crete (no hills) is worth having a look at, very much a small family resort now with a wonderful beach or possibly Arillas on Corfu....but the hill might be problem again!
