Sounds like an excellent deal, but fat chance of getting anything like that from up here in N E Scotland.

Which site did you get it on, what time of year is it for and which airport is it from?

going dec 8--10th 2007--booked flights with ryanair and hotel with hotel connect(3 nights for price of 2). We are flying from east midlands which is about 40 minutes from where we live. Ryanair are having a sale at the minute with most flights at 1p each(£30 with taxes etc).

We have been to Rome twice from a cruise ship and loved it. We bought a map from a street stall as soon as we arrived and found it quite easy to get around on foot, by metro and the occasional bus.

Just be very aware of pickpockets and bag snatchers. Don't carry any more valuables or money than you are going to need for the day. We didn't have any problems, but unfortunately heard of several people from the cruise that weren't so lucky.

Thats a good deal, although which hotel through hotelconnect did you get?

Ive booked similar deals in 2006 for Rome, both times with Ryanair, and stayed in the Ottocento [great little hotel] and the Palladium Palace, which was also very good.

Hotel is Giubileo--a central hotel next to Termini station--only 2 star but not planning on staying in hotel too much, so much to see and do.

Anthony - I can highly recommend the Ottocento - 5 min walk from Spanish Steps, located on a quiet side street between via sistina and the Via Veneto.

Great little hotel, friendly staff, but varies in price dependent upon when you travel.

I have previously paid £100/ night for a double in March but have also seen it at over £200/ night.
