latest update:
just returned from Sanur, Bali and getting international spirits has been a bit of a hit-and-miss affair.
Lots of the smaller restaurants and bars didn't have gin or vodka (maybe other stuff too but we only asked about gin & vodka) when we first arrived (5th September).
None of the restaurants and bars were offering local spirits as an alternative either - which we would have been happy with.
So we had a few Arak-based cocktails.
We couldn't buy local gin in any of the small supermarkets that we'd always used before and in fact the only place we found it was Hardy's.
There's a 'Liquor Shop' in Sanur and apparently it was '20 questions' if non-Balinese wanted to buy international spirits.
We never tried.
It did seem to get a bit better towards the end of our holiday.
Bintang beer was always available.

we were lucky then! Don't just stop with the alcohol PP- lets have a trip report
Oh dear - the situation hasn't improved then.
Well we are off tomorrow, so signing off for now - and going on a G&T hunt, by the sound of it!
Back on 14th Oct!

we are very close to booking the Bali Hyatt for next year
Have a great time!
( and just because I'll be in India when you get back, don't think you can get off with no review )
Thanks - sorry I missed you. I'm sure you'll have a fab time. We did.

I'll be doing a trip report and hotel review when my body has stopped thinking it's 7 hours later than it actually is!
When I get my head in order I've got to sort out our visas for Goa i November - what a fiasco that is!
Polly
