I am a Tenerife fan, but fancy a change. A friend has recommened the above places to stay. Does anyone have any thoughts about them. We want somewhere near a nice beach (with sunbeds and parasols) with restaurants nearby but don't want anything too busy or noise
thanks
ps. have looked at the hotel reviews and there's nothing there

The villas on both are practically identical, they're both run by Wimpey so that's not surprisng. But I think Las Brisas edges it, it has a much larger pool and bar area. They're both very near the reatuarnats and bars and within walking distance of the beaches. Las Brisas for me but Las Casitas would be fine too. Both also have a Tennis court.
I do know that it is a short walk from the shops, restaurants and beach and I've visited the Playa Blanca before on a day trip from Fuerteventura, so I can relate to the places he describes. I was very impressed with the resort on my short visit, which is why we have chosen to go back.
If the villas are mainly privately owned they won't be in reviews as they'll all be different

They aren't privately owned as such, but are a timeshre complex run by Wimpen, part of the Wimpey group who built the complex originally.
A lot of them are privately owned. They're a mixture of privately owned and time share.
I remember these being built back in the early eighties. It was the first time I had heard of timeshare and the price was £600 for one weeks timeshare in January.
The staff were extremely friendly and the food on the complex was fine if you didn't want to go out any particular night.
There was also entertainment in the bar area six nights of the week, though it does cater for a more mature audience, if you know what I mean.
The pool area was quite large and attractively shaped, with a life-guard on duty at all times when the pool was open.
My only reservation would be the lack of air-conditioning. That was not a problem in the last week of January, but it might make for some uncomfortable nights in the middle of summer. There were electric plug-in fans in each bedroom, but I couldn't say how effective they would be in the high season.
As for the resort, we found a great selection of places to eat and drink. The restaurants really were excellent (at least the ones in which we ate were). I would recommend Casa Pedro and Varadero in particular, both on the Paseo Maritimo just down from the pedestrianised shopping area.
We were there in July and although aircon would have been nice during the day, it didn't stop us sleeping at night.
We were in number 68. A mate of mine, who has had a timeshare there for around 16 years, told me today that the complex lost its Gold Star status with RCI due to the lack of air-conditioning. However, he reckons work has already started on installing it in all of the timeshare villas.
