Lol I live 5 miles form Kiddy :D

Ideas from me include - York great atmosphere and shops, Chester olde world character and good pubs plus Cheshire Oaks village outlet, Birmingham is good for shops/clubs/eating out, Bristol was good for a weekend break too. Worcesters nice aswell.

Have also heard Leeds and Manchester are good? And Brightons on my list :D

If you want cheap hotel option the Travelodges are cheap and cheerful - basic but comfy often on £15/£26 room deals.

I'm with Spinner on this one. Got to be Newcastle for me. Whether I'm with the mrs or the lads I always have a great night up there. Loads of bars, some great restaurants (try Azzuri if you like Italian) and plenty to do in the surrounding areas if required. The only thing not up to scratch in Newcastle is the football team (sorry Spinner couldn't resist!)

Manchester (my home town) would also be a good option as would York or Edinburgh.

Has to be Nottingham, amazing night life, loads of restuarants, plenty to do and see in the day and only 20 mins from East Midland airport

Its got to be Liverpool!!

Loads to do, the Met quater for designer shopping, church street for high street stores including the new 4 floor Primark. Great nightlife at Mathew Street and Concert Square, theatres, the Playhouse, The Philomonic Hall, the Rawhide Comedy Club in the Royal Court is fab.....do you want me to go on?????

Brilliant hotels either budget or 5* and great hospitality from the good scouse people, and loads and loads of fab restaurants to choose from.
But then I am biased as I live there!!

Liz.

Hi
I have had quite a few good weekends away in Manchester. Deansgate area.(Which is city center) Caters for all peoples needs, with great eats/pubs and clubs. There is a Holiday inn right on your doorstep, which would help with taxi costs, and are really cheap good standard accomadation, as the rooms sleep up to 4. The MEN arena is near by.Maybe there's someone in concert, the weekend you want to go. Manchester city centre is great for shopping, but you also have the trafford centre, which is a massive indoor shopping complex, eatery with cinema etc, with easy access from manchester city, by train.
Hope you find what you want

I would say Newcastle or Liverpool. I think Liverpool would just edge it and ive been to both for the weekend. Had a great time both times.
Glasgow is also fantastic. Outwith London its officially the best place in the UK for eating out, bars and shopping.
Enjoy yourselves wherever you choose. :D

personally i would say Leeds is the party city of the UK, not to mention the masses of shops in the city. I highly recommend it, put it this way, me and my dad went out on a wednesday and didn't get home till 4am thursday, bearing in mind we had to drive to devon on that morning!

I think it was voted the best night out too by radio1 or something like that
