Thanks strawberry
either sea or is there a river near?
When I was there in May we hired a Pedalo and went accross to one of the bars on the other side of the lagoon. We 'parked' it at the end of a jetty and there was a guy fishing next to us, he was doing it the traditional way of just using a line and bait but he was pulling fish out every few minutes. THere were hundreds of fish swimming round, little tiddlers close in but some large one were visible further out. I can't see why you couldn't fish round the edge of the lagoon as he was catching loads and no one stopped him.
What are the rooms like
i've seen pictures and they look like mini-apartments
Thanks to anyone who can help

I stayed in 3 different rooms in the Montana, but none of them were apartments. As far as I know the Montana doesn't have apartments.
But most of the rooms are very spacious with mini-bar, kettle, TV , hairdryer etc. The en-suites are spacious and well equiped too.
Each room I stayed in was very nicely decorated, and lovely and clean.
The rooms by the dolphin bar are the largest ones.
Tell them that you don't want a room towards the back of the hotel as they are quite a walk from the main hotel (and it's a steep walk being on an incline) plus they don't have the beautiful panoramic views the other rooms have.

Thans again Strawberry
and did not enjoy it at all.
What a pointless comment, at least try to justify it.
Was it your hotel or the resort that you didn't like? If the resort, what problems did you have? Presumably you did at least find the scenery beautiful?
If you check all her posts...I take it this is her explanation...
The worst is Hotel Akdeniz Beach in Olu Deniz. Ran out of Vodka, Lemonade and has cheap Diet Coke, terrible drinks, terrible food had to eat out and spent a lot of money, pool area dirty as was the food area. First visit to Turkey and last. If this is the best place in Turkey I would hate to see the worst.
We stayed here in September/October our first and last visit to Turkey
and did not enjoy it at all.
I've stay in Olu, I really like it. But I stay in a nice hotel. I popped into the Akadeniz to use the loo once There was a HUGE cockroach in the loo, I RAN OUT.
If you had stayed somewhere nice, you would prob have a whole different view of Turkey.
Try Olu again & stay somewhere nice.
From the sound of things, the Akadeniz Hotel does seem rather grim. It's too late now of course, but it's a pity you couldn't have spoken to your tour rep and asked to be transferred to another hotel. Maybe you'll get compensation? Whatever, make sure you do complain to the appropriate people. At least they'll get feedback - and it may prevent other people from throwing their money down the drain.
As for not liking Oludeniz - I'm rather surprised at that. Even if it isn't your cup of tea (some people prefer 'loud' like Marmaris for example) no one can deny that Oludeniz isn't beautiful.
I'd imagine that your hotel coloured your view of the whole place - and I can understand that. Shame.
Had you of booked the Montana Pine you would definitely have come away with a different perspective.
Did you travel around the area by any chance?
Strawberry
I always liken it to having three resorts in one. Olu Deniz - Hisaronu and of course Fethye.
Did you go to see the old Greek town of Kaya Koy Jackie?
Thank you Strawberry for your kind words yes I did ask the rep to move us after the first week and he said that everywhere was full so all he could offer us was BandB and £70 to pay for meals so that wasn't enough as we spent £400 on eating out I have complained to Right Holidays on the phone and also by letter but as yet have not heard anything. As this was our only holiday this year we saved hard for it and feel totally let down.
Think I might try my hand at fishing there, havn't fished for a few years would be a good little experience. Just buy a little rod from somewhere, hopefully somewhere will sell one
When you go there if you pop down to Fethiye Town you'll find quite a few people fishing along the harbour. I'm not sure where you'll pick a rod up from, but if you ask a local they'll be bound to tell you where you'll get one from.
Hope you have a great time
Strawberry
you can buy a cheap telescopic rod and reel in the uk for about £10 or on e-bay...
they fit in the suitcase easy and then just use bread from the hotel or buy a small tub of sweetcorn etc from the supermarket.
have fun....
One of my fellow holidaymakers year before last bought a telescopic rod in Fetiyhe. Sorry can't tell you exactly where but it was a bit of an impulse buy - he didn't have to search very hard. Should be easy to come across something. With it being Turkey anyway just ask any other shopkeeper and they'll point you in the right direction (or more than likely physically escort you somewhere).
yes there are plenty about in fethiye just oposite the beko shop on the one way part of fethiye old town not sure how much but wont be much there is also a shop along atta turk cadesa
