We have been to Kenya twice and both times booked the safari in resort. The first time we booked it with Thomson's and it would have been cheaper to book it in the UK. It was a 3 day Tsavo East/West and Amboseli staying in lodges.

The second time we booked it with a local company, staying in a tented site. With it being off season we really scored. Had the whole campsite for the two of us complete with driver/guide, security man, 2 chefs and a waiter! We felt like royalty having the safari bus all to ourselves.

I'm sure you'll be able to book something once you're there unless you are very specific with your requirements.
