I agree with the David HT Mod, but as far as the Palm Court is concerned, people must be informed about this place. We consider the place to be a joke anyway after hearing what folks who have stayed there have said. We've nipped into the foyer a couple of times when we've been in that area and believe me we'd never stay there even for free! :shrug

I'm hardly surprised that the kitchens have been closed down. I think it's very important that folks reading this site - especially those unfamiliar with Malta are given this info. I guess I already know what the TV programme will say. The Palm Court certainly isn't doing the tourist trade in Malta any favours and I'm just amazed that The Maltese Tourist Board hasn't close them down years ago! :hmmm

I was speaking to a couple who stayed there in September. They told me of their horrible experience on their first night when one of them climbed into bed and fell through the bottom of the bed base  The chipboard base was soaking wet and rotten. I shudder to think of what made it that wet :yuck

The locals call it Fawlty Towers ! Cybil ! Cybil !, if only it was that light hearted, public health is pretty serious stuff and should never be taken lightly.

true it,s also known locally as cockroach city, to me it beggars belief that these nocturnal creatures are spotted so often during daylight hours, either they have gone blind, been poisoned in which case the pest control are doing their job, or its a clear case of overcrowding and they are seeking the exits and alternative digs.

I forgot to mention - on the couple of occasions we visited the foyer, there was a distinct smell of zoflora type disinfection!!!

Nothing wrong with Zoflora disinfection they use it in Elderly Persons Homes.

Yes Dave but I understand it's very good for hiding smells! So it's used in elderley persons homes - I always thought they used dettol. Do you have inside information??? :hmmm

To smell this disinfectant in the foyer of the Palm Court really rings alarm bells with me!

Hi Trev & Dave, perhaps the zoflora was being used to disguise the pong of something like wee wee

Zalflora, Dettol, this thread is dedicated to Palm Court, obviously the smell is after shave exclusive to the roache family. is the foyer not on the way out.

One of the treats of some times working in elderley persons homes is the great smell, so yes I do have inside information, but not at the Palm Court
I do remember the other year when we were in Bugibba I had just sung Ferry across Mersey in a pub near the B H C when a old lady told me that they have Karaoke on at Palm Court the next day, but I never went I like a sing song but not that bad.
