I would be grateful of any help and advice i dont want anything to go wrong with doing it all on my own.

You may find the following weather website helpful which you can also click on the "records and averages" link to tell you what the usual tempatures in December are (around 20c - I would pack warmer clothes for the evening if you plan on walking around outside but t-shirts and stuff for daytime):

This link gives a record of averages and records for Las Vegas weather. I would agree with nowton about the clothes. Light stuff for day and warmer for evening. The temperature drops quite quickly when the sun goes down.
As for the POV. You should be able to specify whether you receive a 2007 or 2008 book. The 2008 books don't come out until 3rd January, so I doubt you'd get one of those sent.
You could also get an American Casino Guide. Their 2008 book is out in November, and the coupons in it can be used straight away and expire at the end of 2008. I doubt that you could get a 2007 book this late in the year.
Some of the slot clubs give out fun books with decent coupons when you sign up. Bills Gambling Hall and the Imperial Palace do. There is often someone around the Carnaval Court area giving out coupons for 2 for 1 at Harrah's and Flamingo buffets. The Harrah's buffet is one of our favourites.
Have a great time. I'm sure your husband will be thrilled with his surprise.

2 for 1? Shouldn't that be $5 off? They are the only ones I've seen. Would be delighted with 2 for 1 as Flavors at Harrah's is my favourite buffet too.

Sorry for the duff information. They are indeed $5 off per person. The Flavors coupon is good for up to four people and the Flamingo one is good for two people. I just had a look.
8 days to go for us and reckon I will save around $176 between coupons from the American Casino Guide, Tix4Dinner, etc. I'm certainly not chasing the coupons. These are just for things we would be doing anyway.
Back on topic. It can be very chilly firs thing in the morning and in the evening when you will need long sleeves. It may be warm enough for T-shirt in the middle of the day, but best to wear layers so you don't have to keep going back to the hotel to change.
Also be aware the aircon in restaurants and show venues can be very chilly at any time of year.
