I find peoples holiday photos on these sites often give me as much if not more information as the reviews but that's probably because I'm looking for access issues due to disability.
I don't suppose there are many people overjoyed when people post pictures of flights of stairs, but it does help me to eliminate unsuitable hotels and resorts.
although it dosn't affect us, i always look at the facilities where we stay and end my reports with either unsutable for, or can cater for, or has facilities for, i think we should all look further than our own noses/rooms and think of the ather members when filling up reports
We have been to a hotel in Torremolinos 3 times during winter and really enjoyed it, but I think I would hate it in summer judging by the reviews.
Although it is usually better to read the reviews overall rather than one in isolation, this didn't work for us last year. There were no reviews on HT for the hotel we were going to so I checked TA. All the reviews were glowing apart from one which said that the food was dire. I decided to dismiss it in light of the others. Mistake! The food was indeed dire.
We go to Las Vegas a lot and often stay at a particular budget (by Vegas standards) hotel. To read some of the reviews by our American cousins, it is the lowest of the low and you wouldn't send a dog there. The Brits on the other hand praise it and particularly state that it's excellent value for money. I thoroughly agree. It actually has four stars in our reviews which are all posted by Brits.
Most American's seem to compare it to the Bellagio or Wynn which are 5 star hotels, but that's like comparing chalk and cheese.

Thanks Wizard, you're a star.
I take it you still have got no further with your review and Travel Republic? I wondered if any of their staff might read this site and see that your review was actioned, after all I think this site has been pretty good for their business.
A couple of years ago I had a bit of an issue with find-rooms.com (not the same problem as yours, I had a problem when changing a booking) and after I posted a bit of a winge on this website I got a private message from the managing director of the company and to be fair it was a very good message waiving all the amendment fees as a sorry for the incovenience, to the point where I asked the moderators to remove my post as I was more than satisfied with how it was eventually resolved.
Just wondered if Travel Republic also looked on this site?
If your review doesn't go on their website I will neither book with them or mention them to any friends as to me it shows a complete disregard for their customers views, its worse than not having a review section.
I hope they do the right thing! And not just with your review but no doubt the many others they are holding back.
Mark
No I've got no further with Travel Republic.
I have clicked on the link in the e-mail again and it informs me that I have already submitted a review"¦so at least I know that they got it.!
Then, on the site there is a section where you can submit a review if you can't wait for them to send you an e-mail and they ask you to insert your booking reference and then type away.
I inserted my booking reference and the site said it did not recognise the booking reference.
It won't turn the clock back for me and the holiday is now fading in my memory, we will just put it down to experience, but like everybody else who posts in HT, I post reviews because I like to help people and I'm a bit of an old bat where the truth is concerned and I get a bee in my bonnet.
I have lost all interest in the TR site as I now know they are holding back reviews and duping the public by only hosting reasonably favourable reports, and to add insult to injury"¦
I've priced the hotel that we usually stay in, in La Carihuela for next June and TR is £514.75 more than booking with Thomson (with an on-line saving of £100 and a promotion code for another deduction of £100.)
Same day, same hotel, same flight: TR £1,667.25, (no transfers or late room check out) Thomson £1152.50, with transfers and late room check out.
I've booked Thomson as much as it grieves me to do so"¦back to where we usually stay.
So, quite frankly they can *******s, I have more important things going off in my life at the moment than to chase around after Travel Republic"¦sorry, I have had one terrible day today with some personal problem, but that won't help anybody else in the future, booking into a 4 star kennel .will it.?
Regards.

Absolutely. I like to see as many photos of the accommodation as possible and I'm sure many others do too.
Interestingly, the most popular photos (in terms of number of views) on my Flickr account, other than one of my Muse at Wembley stadium photos, are those of my hotel room at the Conrad in Sharm! They're really boring photos but to anyone who's considering booking that hotel they're of great interest!

That's why I like to do videos too Pippy.
I shot a few videos in Egypt this year, maybe I'll suss out how to upload them somewhere other than You Tube one day
Interesting!!! I've just visited Yahoo holiday review website and low and behold there is a review on there that I placed on Trip advisor website in July after a trip to a hotel in Kemer Turkey. It has been reworded but is definatley (sp) my review. I have never placed a review on this website (didn't even know it existed). How strange!!!!! Denny
They must have typed the whole thing out as you can't copy and paste from our review site.
I contacted Van who contacted the website and threatened them with legal action as it wasn't the first time they'd copied from HT. The review was removed.
Perhaps you should contact Yahoo and claim breach of copyright, although it is probably TA's copyright.

I have had the opposite problem with holidaysuncovered (which I am not going to bother with now I've found out it's not independant ).
I took a great deal of time and trouble over two reviews, and they never bothered to put them up.
Even though I had the acknowledgement at the end thanking me for my review and giving me my 'free' discount code for 50 quid of a Thomson holiday. I checked on and off for two weeks but nothing.

Maybe HT could have a section where we could post pictures of the places visited as Tripadvisor does???
http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk ie the discussion site rather than the reviews site http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/
I must admit that I very rarely use the galleries, but they are very popular with the members.

We do have the Photo Galleries (link at top of the page), but they are on this site, I must admit that I very rarely use the galleries, but they are very popular with the members.

Half the information on that site is tripped over from here
Had an e-mail yesterday from Travel Republic asking me escape the winter weather and book my ticket to the sun.
As if !

I would prefer it if we were able to look at photos alongside the hotel reviews rather than hunting through the gallery.

I think he'd run a mile!
I've mentioned to Van re being able to put the photo's next to the hotels - will give him another nudge and see if it's feasible on our site.
Hope he can.
