quintessentially greek harbour village with little whitewashed houses straddling the molus and small boats bobbing around in the harbour.

meandering harbour lined with pretty venetian buildings with waters sheltered by an offshore islet.

assos on kefalonia - crumblng grandeur of old venetian buildings and a real sense of civic pride with lots of pretty gardens. an impressive isthmus of land with a huge venetian fortress at the top. absolutely stuning.

kapsali on kythira - lesser known harbour of kapsali set in one of twin horseshoe bays, the other has a beach. very pretty waterfront with promeande of tranquil tavernas and rising up vertically 600 feet straight from the water a huge rock with an imposing venetian fortress at the top, with the pretty whitewashed town of Chora spilling out around it. at night the whole rock is floodlit and it looks stunning from below! http://www.kythera.gr/photos/categories.php?cat_id=11&sessionid=265391a6af4f87532def84ee66c8e00b

What a great post. You always hear about the beaches and the churches, so it's great the harbours have a chance to shine. There is nothing better than sitting at the edge of the water enjoying the sun and watching daily life go by.

I have to agree with quite a few people and say for beauty and colour, Fiskardo on Kefalonia has to be tops!

Skiathos harbour - stunning.

I'll give my vote (belatedly) to Lakka on Paxos. Fiscardo in Kef is also exceptionally beautiful.

For me it has to be Kos town it has everthing from historic ruins, winding streets with plenty of tavernas bars and shops and boats that line the old castle wall heaven!
