Yes, I read that, and am gutted. I fly BA whenever I can as their service is second to none. However, it remains to be seen if they will continue the same routes, or use the London landing slots for other routes. Any updates welcome I will be watching with interest.
so are our flights booked 14th - 28th march still ok with ba.
I reckon so. I am booked with BA in January, and was just about to book for April. I have spoken to them this morning, and GB Airways will be operating as BA up until 30th March. After that, the routes will change. It doesn't look as if Easyjet will continue to fly to Tenerife. I reckon that they have bought the company for it's airport slots. The publicity bumph said as much.
http://www.ba.com or on http://www.gbairways.com. After completion the GB Airways summer schedule will be available on easyJet.com.
Just looked on the easyjet website and they say that until the acquisition of GB Airways by easyJet has been completed GB Airways flights must be booked on
we are booked for july with ba- hoping the flight will still be the same route, had email from ba saying that we will be informed in the next 8 weeks about what is happening! i am only guessing but i would imagine we will possibly be on the same flight but just easy jet not ba,fingers crossed!!
Hi booked with BA/GB for next may/june 08 form Manchester and have been told Easyjet don`t have any flights from Manchester so does anybody know if they will cancel or if BAwill take these slots?
Phoned up BA last week - was told THEY CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THE FLIGHT WILL BE ON THE SAME DAY I BOOKED. Even though I have a villa reserved on that date and we are going to Tenerife with two other families.
BA told me I could have a full refund that evening. I said I would check with my husband before cancelling. Fares for next August were £ 178 each, we thought that was a fair price.
I then went on line and booked £ 271 each , fares with Monarch.
Phoned BA back the next day. SORRY YOU CANNOT HAVE A REFUND UNTIL THE TRANSFER HAS TAKEN PLACE, END OF DECEMBER AT THE EARLIEST. "You should not have been told you could have a refund.
i ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE SUPERVISOR/MANAGER, HE SAID HE WAS SORRY. Sent a email to customer services, no help, directed me to GB Airways customer services. . They have not replied.
I now have two flights booked. Paying out £ 2000.
BA's web site says that you can have a refund after the takeover, if you do not wish to fly with Easyjet.
My husband wanted to wait and see if they still went out on the day we were scheduled, however, if we wait until the new year, the prices on the other airlines will have gone up too much for us. It is not a cheap holiday.
My sister in law has now booked with Monarch and has paid £ 307.00 per person on the same flight as us, she had the last seats at that price. It then went up £ 200 + more than she had paid. We are talking £ 400 per ticket return in the school summer holidays.
THOMAS COOK AIRLINES WAS ON A PAR A JOINT CHEAPEST WITH MONARCH FOR THOSE DATES WHEN I BOOKED.

As this issue obviously isn't specific just to Tenerife, you will find lots more info and discussion on the subject in our Airlines & Airports forum and in our Holiday Complaints forum.
