Hi Shirleyv,

The Highland beach, 4 Pools, Bar, 2 Restaurants, close to everything and it has just upgraded it's safety features and passed all health and safety regulations from the holiday companies.

positions for beach shops ect ,apart for better beds in the
Phoenix they are both on par.
have a great time where ever you decide on.

Highland Beach is central to everything in Candolim and I would stay there again if the prices at the moment were not really silly,oh and not forgetting the VISA situation.

just saw the post re visas being reinstated by post will investigate further.Goa may just be back on the agenda. That is if the prices come down a bit.

thanks everyone, will need to decide soon

Stayed at Highland Beach 3 times and are going back in January. Like the location as it is central to most things but because it is not near the main road it is usually fairly quiet. We have also stayed in Calungute and Dona Alicina a couple of times but we like Highland Beach. Also its near to one of our favourite restaurants - Foxys Steak House.

Have stayed at both and prefer the Pheonix as postion is better and it is smaller. I felt the Highland lacked atmosphere due to size however everything else was okay/

Whichever you choose you will have a great time

When you stayed at Highland Beach, did you try Casa Manolita?

Where is Casa Monolita please.
Ann :)

I think Casa Monolita's is down the lane by the side of Dona Alinca
Hotel on the main road. Never been myself but heard it is good.

Casa Manolita is small and intimate, old Portuguese house where you sit on the veranda, European food. Great steaks.
It has about 6 starters, 8 main courses + sweets.

It is at the opposite side of Highland's main entrance.

Only open in the evening from 7pm.

This one gets 5* from us.

Yes we have tried Casa Minalota and the food was great. It is down the road at the side of Dona Alicina or at the side of the second block in Highland Beach.

I have stayed at both but prefer Phoenix as it has better air conditioning and a tv you can watch in bed. Better breakfast and much cleaner, and the beds are proper beds.

Thanks to all who explained how to find Casa Monilita :) :)

If you stay in the first blocks of HBR you would not really notice Casa Monalita it being at the side of the hotel nearly everyone walks through reception and up to the main road past Foxeys. Allan.
