I once did some glazing in Llandudno, does that count? It was lovely, trees everywhere and a change from the high rises and smog where I live now!!! Oh and I did once go to Glasgow but that wasn't really any different!!! :)

Travelled for business on quite a number of occasions, mainly to Spain and Morocco.

I got it at the end down to a fine art combining work and pleasure.

It is an eye opener mixing in with the different cultures, especially my time working out of Morocco.

It also makes you appreciate what you got in England.

For a while I worked as a tour guide so travel to other countries was my business, only tours within Europe though, I think France was my favourite and I never tire of Paris, with Italy a close second I usually spent all my salary on meals in France, shoes and bags in Italy. I always had a certain amount of free time so was able to do some exploring away from the group.
I live in southern Germany and sometimes drive to France for a day (it takes just over two hours) and have the odd weekend in Italy (three hours drive) so I can still indulge in my shopping/eating pastimes.

I've accompanied my wife on a few trips. I can safely say she sees very little of the places she visits as she is on stands selling to conference delegates. It's my job to lug stock around and find restaurants for us to go when she has finished. Together we have been to:

Skiathos (awful), Clermont-Ferrand (awful), Salzburg (beautiful).

In addition she has been to Helsinki and somewhere in northern Finland, Belgrade, Frankfurt and Bern. She no longer does the same job and is thankful she doesn't have to do the trips.

What is interesting is how well (or not) organisers in different countries are prepared for your arrival - you are not unexpected and there are many e-mails between the parties prior to arrival stating what is required. The Greeks and French were totally useless, the Fins, Germans and Austrians very efficient.

I don't get to travel abroad for business :( but my hubby does.

I am the saddo who has to get up at stupid o'clock to run him to Stansted etc as taxis are apparently unreliable at that time of the morning. :hmmm But I think he just prefers me doing it. Cologne seems to be the current favorite.

Am then there to collect him at 9 or 10pm. I do normally get a pressie from airport shopping for my trouble though. :D
He also doesn't seem to get to see much of where he is just the inside of meeting rooms and airports. Although he did once say he thought Oslo was worth a visit.
