Hi,
I'm going to Tallinn at the beginning of February next year.
I was just wondering if anyone has been before and could give me a bit of info on the place???
Cheers,

Try the http://www.inyourpocket.com guide to Tallin for info, also the Lonely Planet and Rough Guide.
Tallinn is a very nice little town, especially the old town. There are lots of little alleys, nowadays nearly all of the houses in old town are restored. Earliest from the Middle Ages.
The service in Estonia is not necessary very good, because of the Soviet influece, but is getting better. Don't go tourist traps like SadaMarket in the harbour of Merekeskus near centre towards harbour. They are aimed for the mass tourists from Finland and Sweden with all the pirate T-shirts and stuff.
As a woman, I appreciate the beauty treatments, manicures & so on, they are very cheap, but well done usually. Prices are very high in the centre, but further away they are a bit cheaper. Average Estonian does not earn much, it is impossible to think how they can manage in Tallinn.
There are many nice places to eat, look also http://www.tourism.tallinn.ee/ in english, too. There are also lovely handcraft shops in old town, worth a look!
Also if you have time, you can visit Pirita, it was 1980 olympics the sailing centre. On the way you can see the Estonia shipwreck statue as well.
Hope you find this useful. Have a nice journey to Tallinn! And take a lot of pictures!

Hi Earrinde! We went to Tallin last February. Its a beautiful place. It was cold - around - 10 at night, but we had plenty of wintry sunshine in the day. Most things revolve around the centre, but there are some beautiful walks, and stunning views. Some of the major cruise ships dock for day trips.. You'll be spoilt for choice for eateries, which we found reasonable. The 2 Irish bars are cheap for a drink but there's nothing special about the food. There's loads of little alleys sporting some chic shops. We went for a walk to the harbour and saw that you could get a ferry across to Riga for a day. Unfortunately it was our last day so time didn't allow it. I.m sure you'll have a lovely time. WE'll certainly go back some time in the future.
