6.00pm is the best time to go as you get the sun setting over Fort Aguada.
For 100rps it's well worth it, then either a meal in the Delhi Darbar or visit a few hidden watering holes
Should we just jump in a taxi and ask him to take us to the sunset cruise in the capital, and i presume its 100rps per person?
Very cheap i think.
A few questions though.. How long does it last for, as me and OH get a bit seasick, but our young lad loves boats.
Is it usually busy on the boat? ie plenty of people to talk to?
Thanks
Nicola
It lasts about 1 hour and is usually packed, mostly with Indian nationals who are on holiday and up for a lot of fun. Watching the men dancing to Punjabi music is hilarious.
The girls are taking over.
Tip - go on the government owned boats - they are the cheapest and busiest.
Don't forget if you are in Candolim/Calangute leave at least 45 mins before the boat departs. If you do miss it, there are plenty more to choose from, they all have loud music and encourage everyone to get up and have a dance (sorry Indian people - but you are one great bunch of dancers to sit and watch !!). Most also have Goan/Indian dance groups on in between the 'boogie' music, which is well worth watching. Bottles of beer, Breezers and soft drinks on board at 'not so bad prices'. Also snacks available, Onion Bahji's,Samosas etc...
The 6.00pm cruise boat is called the Royal. Just turn up at the river side and look for the 'Royal' kiosk to buy your tickets.
Have fun !!!
Spike.
P.S You only go down the mandovi river to the sea edge, turn round and come back, shouldn't get sea sick, always a smooth trip.
Could'nt agree with you more Spike, great to see so many people having so much fun (without being drunk) and Panjim looks so different when its all lit up when your on your way back, and you cant do the cruise without going to the Deli Dhurbar to round the evening off ......Keith
Thanks for that
I went last year i found the music a bit to loud might have just been that boat as i like my music loud, but you must do it,the indian people realy enjoy themselfs, and delli durbar after greatttt, get a taxi he will wait for you to get of boat bring you to delli durbar then wait to bring you home.
Yes, we went in March, good bar nearby before you get on the boat - so cheap+ we had free bottles of kings (something to do with the inside lid). We had a great time but did feel a bit like celebrities - lots of indians wanted to take photos of us!!!
I might be staying at a place near the airport How long would it take to get to Panjim?
Depends which side of the airport... but would guess at 25/30 mins ? + how mad the driver is !
Thanks Spike...Yikes
