Fiona, It looks like the nee-lam grand where we stayed in 2005, This year there was a lot of work going on around the hotel but it is near where the new MacDonald's is suppose to be going, we thought it had something to do with that, There is a hotel behind that which was called the silent resort which closed in 2005 because of renovations, Looking at the picture it does look like the nee-lam. We loved the hotel very clean staff brilliant and the rooms where spacious.
I'll see if others agree. I was looking through mY travel adding new hotels when I noticed the Grand Calangute Beach. Looks like we may have to delete a hotel from reviews
Wonder if they have dropped nee-lam from the name and change it to grand calangute beach?
I think the hotel was called silent retreat the same owners as silent resort,it was the newest of the two,i think i stayed there 7 years ago just before the banks shut them down
Neelams the Grand was previously the Silent Retreat in a former life, stayed there the first 3 years we visited Goa and it was a great hotel with great staff - still in touch with many of them to this day although they are spread all over Calangute / Cadolim now and one is on the P & O Cruise ship Oceana. We visited Neelams 2 weeks back and they have a model in the reception area of what the finished building will look like. I was told that there was going to be a Macdonalds originally but this plan has now been shelved - lets hope so
With it saying on the outskirts of calangute, I thought it might be the old silent resort, Thomas cook have nee-lam grand which in all inclusive, and the grand which is'nt.
and the Grand Calangute Beach. Confusing isn't it
..and My Travel have The Grand Post a Reply
