We have just received our tickets today for our xmas cruis through the Panama Canal on Princess's Coral Princess
They have enclosed an express checkout for our credit card transaction for our on board accout with the optio for them to do the currency conversion
The questio is will they give the best rate or are we best allowing the rate to be converted by the credit card company when they receive the transaction - you have to decide when you first sign in to board the ship and you do not know the rate which Princess will use at the end of the cruise
We use a Nationwide credit card to pay for purchases abroad as they give the full Interbank rate with no loading. Other companies load their rate by about 2.75%. See HERE for examples and see if your card is mentioned.

You should look at what they ask you to sign and tick the box where you tell them you do not wish them to convert your $.

Agree entirely with Luci and Keela, we have never taken the currency conversion option, but rather just have the dollar amount going to the credit card. The rate with the credit card company has always been good and, unlike getting dollars in cash or traveller cheques, there is no transaction charge.
