Hmm, it seems that the police are taking advantage of the fact that most tourists do not like getting mivered on the beach off the sellers.
I quite like talking to the sellers, more often than not they stop by just to talk to you, but thats if youve already told them from the start that you do not want anything.
The usual suspects are still on the beach in Candolim, near D'Mellos and Marthas Place but I managed two weeks without buying anything but did have a good laugh with them. They can get a bit much when you are reading as they stand at the end of your sun bed in silence!. I spent a fortnight looking after their bags when the police came and I heard that the police assaulted one of them last Thursday. They are only trying to make a living and do sell some nice stuff but after 50 weeks at work I want a rest and sometimes it is just annoying.
My wife only ever buys anything on the last day. Most of them know this and do not pester her at all. Like most people we have known many of them since they were kids, and we dont mind giving them a bit of business, but do not want to be hassled. Try telling them you will only buy on the last day.
This is what we always do - buy on the last day. They seem to know our routine now and know it's a waste of time trying to sell before then. My holiday wouldn't be the same without them.

I also see that the casino boat has been removed from the river Sal. I think all those that enjoy Fishermans Warf, Riverview etc will see this as a positive move.
