Waves?

Hi, could anyone tell me if the beaches are at all wavey in Crete? I have visited before a long time ago but can't remember. My boyfriend wants to know as he likes waves
Basically any resort with a beach open to the North will have waves, the meltemi wind (northerly) is present more or less throughout the summer. Examples are - west of Chania, east of Georgeopolis or Rethymnon, west/east of Iraklion to Malia, Sitia.
August is the month with the north winds (meltemia).
so in North Crete you will be fine.
if you are interested in surfing etc i think there was a surfing station in Palekastro area (NorthEast Crete right from Sitia). I am sure though there are more surfing stations in other parts of the island to
