Can recommend the Sultan Gardens - fantastic! Not directly in Na'ama Bay, pretty close to the airport (also the Maritim Congress Centre if you know where that is). Got back yesterday and can't wait to return. Snorkelling from the pontoon is great - I found Nemo!! Two heated pools (one with a slide) and two larger (massive) pools that aren't heated. Any questions, just ask.

We booked with Travel Republic and this came as a booking with Medhotels. If you look on Trip Advisor (am I allowed to say this?) and look at the reviews for the Sultan Gardens, Basel (the manager) responds to them all and gives his email address - and he responds promply to emails.

We stayed at the Calimera Moderna at Nabq Bay last time, which we found quite reasonable. It's a bit further up the coast and you'd need reef shoes, as the beach goes into the sea atop a reef all the way out to a wreck. We walked for 10 mins around the coastline to a public beach where we could walk straight into the sea from a sandy (coarse sand) beach, which was great for snorkelling around the reef.

It's not particulary posh, but the food's ok and, as ever, the waiting staff cannot do enough for you.

I suppose really that I'd recommend Nabq Bay as an area as it's well away from the cess pit that is Naama!!!

Hi Spadge :D

Another area you could consider is Ras Um Sid which also seems to be called Habada. Unfortunately the hotel I stayed in - Renaissance golden view beach, although excellent wont be suitable as it's not AI, but I think there are a couple of good AI's up there. Reef Oasis Beach and Iberotel Club Fanara spring to mind (you would need to check the reviews to see if they suit you)

The reason I mention it is that it's close to Old Sharm, Fantasia is walkable and a new shopping center called Il Mercato, you are well out of the hubbub of Namma Bay, but should you wish to go to NB it's a lot closer in a cab than from Nabq is.

At this end you dont get beaches like at Nabq, you enter the sea from Jettys and the hotels seem to all have sunbathing terraces down by the sea. There is a beach at El Fanar and an excellent restaurant called the lighthouse.

The Holiday village in Nabq bay is brilliant for all ages.Theres loads going on all day for children. Its exclusive to First Choice and Eclipse so you will probably not be able to book it independently, but it will probably work the same. The rooms are great for families as some have a kids den with bunks,TV and play station!.
