Can any explain this
Thomas cook are advertising reduced prices for children for the summer holidays.
I have just priced up 2 weeks at the Samira in Kalkan from 11 August for 2 ad & 2 ch at £1540 which i thought was a very god price. however the same holiday for 4 adults comes in at only £1336. It seems to be that if booking with children you get hit with an under occupancy charge and only receive the online discount on the adults.
does anyone know if it is ok to book the holiday as 4 adults to get the cheaper price?
i have had my children book as adults before, because of different prices for children and never had a problem but i would advise you to ring them to confirm it is ok
i did this aswell last year with ny daughter . id urge everyone to check both prices , maybe thomas cook will catch on and reduce under occcupancy suppliments or even scrap them.
If the accommodation is apartments it can often work out its cheaper to book children as adults. If you book as children there are under occupancy supplement to pay, and these supplements can be high based on a per night bases, but when booked as all adults there is under occupancy supplements Children don't count towards occupancy in apartments.
I've also booked my kids as adults to get the best price.
In my experience, it is always worth pricing holidays in different ways i.e. 2 adults and 2 children could be checked as 2A and 2C, 3A and 1C and as 4 adults. Some of the results can be surprising
You would be best to book the holiday over the phone, I know that when I sold holidays for another company we were allowed to sell as 4 adults, but had to put the kids ages in and then email another department to get the price amended, this then allows the hotel to know if kids are there (especially if there are kids clubs etc).
Have you thought of booking flights and the hotel separately as we did this staying at the Samira Deluxe and it worked out much cheaper - and the hotel does transfers too.
Don't know if you've been to Kalkan before but it's fab.
It happens all the time.
A couple of years ago I booked a holiday with Thomas Cook over the phone. I had priced it up on the website and it worked out cheaper to count my daughter (who was then 12 - just about "child price" for half-board) as an adult, but due to a glitch on the website I was unable to book online. When I phoned to book I explained about daughter being a child but wanting to book her as an adult to make it cheaper - the operator I spoke to managed to book her as an adult but kept her as a child for the flight element of the booking so I only paid the child price for her in-flight meal. Just a small saving - but every little helps
