I fly tomorrow and haven't been to the Canaries since last Xmas. Do we need additional ID for the airport in Tenerife? I thought I'd read somewhere that they have brought this rule in for security purposes and if you don't have it ready you are there for ages?
Thanks
Don't worry your passports fine. I think your thinking of the new rule whereby the airline sends your details to Spain while ypur flying so they have time to check you out before you get there.
Thanks
You should check with your airline, most now require advanced passenger information you may not only delay yourselves but all the other passengers on the aircraft. Ryanair and Easy Jet both ask for this information from visitors to Spain, we recently travelled to Tenerife and this information was required.
if you booked online all the information of what they require ie details from your passport is there.

All the information that is required can normally be gathered from a swipe of your passport at check in.
Then why do the airline's ask for this information for flights to Spain ie Ryanair and Easyjet on their websites , when we were at East Midlands recently a rep had to go along the waiting queue for check in to ascertain that the information had been given, surely it would help if this information was given in advance to cooperate with the airlines, I don't think that you as a moderator should tell people not to bother to respond to airlines simple requests.

I did not tell people not to bother responding to airlines simple requests. Please read my post again.
As I said, this information can be gathered from your passport where check in staff are able to swipe the passport. They also have information from your booking form. Some airlines prefer to collect this information prior to travel.
We have a dedicated topic on this subject HERE

When the announcement was made that API was required by Spain, I read that out of all the check-in desks in British Airports, only half of them have the technical "ability" to "read" the information encripted on your passport....and there was a big "oooh ha" about the cost of upgrading them....and more importantly, who was going to pay for it.?

We has a great holiday and great weather, I'll do a review of club Atlantis and bars/restaurants when I get chance, but who knows when that will be!
