There seems to be a lot of accommodation available in Almyrida but I read somewhere that the food in the tavernas is mainly English.

Then it must have changed an awful lot since I visited it 5/6 years ago. In those days Almyrida was much smaller than Kalives and had just a few tavernas and beachside bars that served nothing but very basic, in the sense of simple, but tasty Greek food. I can't help with info on the accommodation you mention because we actually stayed in Megala Chorafia in the hills behind Kalives but used to frequent the beaches and tavernas in both Kalives and Almyrida. At that time Kalives was the busier, bigger and more commercial of the two. We quite fancied staying at Almerida if we returned but most of the SC accommodation is set back from the beach up the hill and my friend's increasing problems with arthritis made us think that this wouldn't be such a good idea after all so we haven't been back to this area since.
