Hi

We too are going to the Mavi Belci Hotel on 29 August. We chose that over the Sun Karbel as it seems to have a larger pool and gardens, be nearer the beach and we met people who were staying at the Karbel Sun who said breakfast was very basic and generally didn't seem very impressed with it. We have been to Olu six times, all hotels we have stayed in have been good, This year we were looking a best possible deal as we are going with our family and needed to keep price down. It looked good value, and has been recently refubished.

I know you will love Olu Deniz.

Hi Wendy, thanks so much for your reply. Think we are going to go with the Mavi Belce, this will only be my second time in Turkey, last year staying in Gumbet being the first. We had never fancied Turkey before and always opted for Spain, Portugal etc. Needless to say i fell in love with the place and i am now considering getting married here, hence the visit to Olu Deniz. Any more tips and info greatly appreciated.

Thanks again

There are lots of posts on this website about Olu Deniz but my list of things you must see and do, include the paragliding off Mount Babadag (fabulous). Watching the sunset from the Buzz roof top cocktail bar (Melon Crush highly recommended), Any of the boat trips or better still a gulet trip, where you get to visit some fabulous coves that are not accessable by road. Sugar beach, which is just around the lagoon, you can walk or if its really hot there is a free shuttle available. (Best calamari, nice chilled atmosphere). All the restaurants are good but best meal last year was in the Olive Grove. We didn't actully do it ourselves but you can high speed boat for the day for about £60 and go where you like. A great night at the Time Out Karokee bar in Hisaronu (up the road from Olu) The fun starts about 11 so don't get there too early. The Salkikent gorge, which you can go to on a day trip is beautiful. The organised trip also takes you to a carpet factory so if you want to skip that bit, it may be better to get a taxi there if you get someone to share the cost. I could go on and on

Have a look at Buzz bar web site - http://www.buzzbeachbar.com/buzzbar.html

Its all fabulous and you will easily find your way about. Enjoy yourselves

I too was looking at the Mavi Belci, but mainly over the hotel Karbel rather than the karbel sun. We stayed at the Karbel last year, and it was a lovely hotel, I did look into the Mavi as it was such a good rate, but in the end Ive secured the Karbel for less and because it was such a nice hotel we wanted to go back.

Is there any reason why you are comparing these two in particular? You may want to check out the Karbel (fab reviews on here!) and its opposite the karbel sun.

The Mavi will be according to the map a little closer to the sea, but the Karbel is only a 10 min walk down to the beach if that anyway, Olu is a lovely place, and we loved it so much it will be the first time we've returned to anywhere we've been before

This map might help folk get a perspective on how the hotels are laid out (provided I have put the link up correctly) :think

If you scroll across and hover and click over the red icons the names of the hotels come up in the top right-hand corner
