Hi Sarah,

It is possible to walk from the Old Town to the Strip and it would take about 20-30 minutes. Taxis are cheap though and should be easy to get in June and there's also a little road train which runs all day until the early hours between the two areas. That website will give you a good idea of the general layout of the town. Albufeira is a hilly resort. The Old Town is down by the sea and you have to climb up to the main road which runs across the whole resort. Once you are up there, it's fairly flat across to the Strip, which then runs back towards the sea but only gently sloping until the end when you would have to go down "Cardiac Hill" to get down to Praia da Oura. It's hard to describe but I hope this helps!

There are lots of bars and restaurants in both areas and you will certainly be able to get a pizza or Chinese very late in the evening.

Yes Albufeira is hilly so if you want a flat resort, late night takeaways and entertainment for the kids I would recommend Praia Da Rocha as it's your type of resort.
Could also try Benidorm or Magaluf.

Yes I agree with them, and would also recommend Quarteira, its prety much flat, plenty of places to eat and late night take aways. Actually most restaurants would be open late. Hope that helps.
Enjoy your time there.

Sarah,
If I were you, I'd take a look at Monte Gordo on the east side of Faro. It is the flatest area I know in the Algarve and loads of people with walking disabilities go there. It is good for wheelchair users too and has a lovely long walk along the promenade.
There are loads of places for eating and I'm sure you will be able to get your takeaways!!!!

The tourist train between Albufeira and the 'Strip' end runs all year - in May it will be operating until at least every half hour until past midnight. In high summer it runs until around 3am.

Just one thing - the town centre stop has had to be moved because of construction work and is currently about 200 metres from the usual place down in town and up a hill unfortunately. Allegedly it will return to the normal location a the end of May but I wouldn't bet on it - see 'Streetworks in Albufeira' thread for more!

Villamoura is pretty flat as well with easy access to the beach. Plenty of restaurants around the marina area, but as this is a purpose built resort it lacks Portuguese character.
