Hello there folks!
I was hoping you could assist...
My boyfriend and I are looking at going slightly further afield for a holiday this year and really fancy the Caribbean, Dom Rep specifically. Quite a few of our friends have been there and they have all raved about it so we're now dying to go!! The only problem I can see is that the only time we can go off on holiday is the 1st 2 weeks of July - Hurricane season I believe!!
Now I'm not expecting any of you to be able to predict the weather (tho if you can do that, can I also have the lottery numbers??) but I was wondering if any of you had experiencedthe weather in July nad can give me an idea?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Like you, we are travelling to the Dom Rep (North) in the same month. We have to take our holidays during the peak weeks so I'm afraid it's always July for us. It's our first time to this destination but we have previously visited Jamaica, Cuba and Margarita in July and the weather has been lovely although it is very hot. I'm not saying that you will not get any rain but I remember when it rained for a short time when we were in Jamaica and I was told that it was just 'liquid sunshine' so I wouldn't worry.
Thank you very much for your reply - really appreciated!!
I'm more than happy for it to rain every now and then - I live in Scotland so am used to it!! I think we're going to book tonight as I've just found some fab deals (£709 each for 2 weeks AI in Lifestyle vitalis garden club) am dying to get away!
Thanks again!

I have travelled to the DR south and east cost several times...all bar once were peak season, july thru to sept....and i can honestly say that rain never ever spoilt my holiday...yes it does rain, mainly during the night. Any rain during the day is truly short lived. Its fair to say I always return home looking like a local as they say.
My wife and I booked the DR early last year for this July and like yourself, we also come from Scotland, so I'm pretty sure that we can handle a "little" rain. LOL!
To be on the safe side, I think I'll pack my wellies!
We have booked up for the Iberostar Costa Dorada (2 weeks A.I.), flying out from Glasgow on the 5th of July.
All the best and have a good one.

It is so warm that the rain can be a novelty. I remember it raining one day quite heavily, the animation team got together and arranged other entertainment inside.
You will have a great time, the people are so friendly.

It mainly rains in the evening or small bursts of rain during the day, but still hot. We were at Riu Merengue last year when Hurricane Dean passed by and we just had small bursts of rain and then sunshine soon followed. We had 1 afternoon of heavy rain on our last day, but kids were still in the pool although the beach was out of action and the staff moved all the sun loungers. I am returning this July to Ocean Sands in PC. You'll have a great time.
